I love Phyllis Hyman, she is truly a legend. I'm only 17 and her and anita baker are my favorite singers! I guess i have an old soul. Ms.Hyman's music is so unique so original and so is her voice. I remember, my mom telling me how Phyllis Hyman called her job one day looking for someone, she invited her to a concert too! But she didn't go because i had just been born and she didn't have a babysitter, but my mom did she her in the sophsticated lady (i think : ) I guess i've said all this to say that this picture represents how Ms Hyman put her heart and soul into her music and it shows in every note she ever sang.

I was young when she died. But her songs, her voice and the pain on her face made me want to know her. I am deeply hurt at the loss of such a beautiful lady. I still feel pain and cry tears every time I listen to her sing. There are so many what if's and why's. But she did what she felt she had to do to end her suffering. I miss her dearly. I don't know why I feel such pain for someone I have never met, but I feel something and I dont judge it, I embrace it. I wish I had met her, I would have loved to call her friend.
