Dead Putting Society

Homer is invited to Flander's house for a beer. Homer sees Flander's game room with beer on tap and observes that his son Todd is loving and brilliant in school. He thinks Flanders is bragging about his lifestyle and storms out. When Homer and Bart run into Flanders and Todd at the miniature golf course, Homer boasts that Bart will win the big miniature golf tournament. Flanders advises Homer not to count on Bart , since Todd will also enter.

Despite his most ardent efforts, Bart's putting is lacking. Lisa senses Bart's anguish and shows him an ancient Oriental method of concentration. Using his new Zen approach, Bart's game improves dramatically. Homer challenges Flanders to bet on the tournament, and the two agree that the father of the boy who doesn't win must mow the other's lawn while wearing his wife's best dress.

Both Todd and Bart are pressured to win. The score is tied as they approach the last hole. To avoid the dire consequences if they lose, Bart and Todd quit and call the game a tie. Without a winner, both Homer and Flanders put on their wives' clothes and mow each other's lawns.

• "To Todd, Love Dad" is engraved on Todd Flander's putter.
• At Sir Putt-a-Lot's Merrie Olde Fun Center, a sign for the golf tournament reads, "*Free Balloon for Everyone Who Enters*."
• Bart has a trophy from "Everybody Gets a Trophy Day."
• At the miniature dinosaur hole, a sign reads, "Do Not Climb on Statuary."
