Welcome To SpiritWalker's
Instant Poetry Page

I have received so many requests, from visitors to my web site and readers of my poetry, to place a poetry page in my Apachería. I am so thrilled that so many of you enjoy what I write, that I have taken the time to include them at this time. Below, you will find a directory to my poetry, click on a link and it will take you right to the poem you have chosen, or you may simply scroll down the page and read them in order from the oldest to the newest.
Some of the poems have been published by Madeline Baker. A couple of them will be published in books of mine next year. All of the poems are mine and they speak my heart at various times in my life. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

A Single Flower

One single flower in the glen,
I stooped to pluck it up, but then,
I saw within that single flower,
The beauty of the glen, its power.
It made the clearing come alive,
Gave it strength, made it thrive.

I touched its lovely petals fair,
And wondered quietly, why it was there.
It grew in thorns and briers and weeds,
There was no water to meet its needs.
I must remove it, it cannot live,
Not here, not now, I was positive.

And then I thought of more than I,
I could not remove it, I must try,
A different approach, one I knew,
Would bring that beauty for all to view.
I’ll leave it here, I’ll not destroy,
The beauty here, the peace, the joy.

From this day forward, this I vow,
I dedicate myself, and now,
I must prepare to meet its needs,
It will not fall among the weeds.
That flower needs me, this I know,
It must be mine to let it grow.

It needs to feel the sun above,
It also needs to know my love.
It needs to know that someone cares,
It needs to know that I’ll be there,
To honor its beauty, so complete,
To taste its nectar, rich and sweet.

That flower’s you, my Sweet, my dear,
You will not fall, for I am here,
To meet your needs, to dry your tears,
To right your wrongs, to calm your fears.
I will not falter at my task,
My heart is yours, you needn’t ask.

Reminiscing...

I ran away from home too soon, I should have stayed there in my room,
And wondered how the world would really be.
I think that now that I am grown, and out here in it on my own,
I really missed the one thing that I seek.

For every corner I have turned, I've stopped to wonder what I've learned,
And yet I feel there's something I have missed.
Was it the smile that caught my eye, or just a stranger passing by?
Should I have loved the first one that I kissed?

Well, never will there come a day, when I can come to me and say,
"Old man, I think you've really done it all."
I think that there will never be, a moment when I can truly see,
The way to leap to safety before I fall.

'Cause I have fallen hard before, but each time when I hit the floor,
I rolled to stand again with ease.
But I have fallen now at last, and hope the day will never pass,
I love the thought of lying here in peace.

It's in your arms I take my rest, and count that I am truly blest,
You see it's you who occupies my days.
And as we talk and laugh aloud, it always makes me truly proud,
To know that you can love me in these ways.

From My Heart To Yours

You inspire poetry that I could never write,
Songs I could never sing, and feelings I could never have.

You bring joy I could never sense,
Light I could never see, and wisdom I could never obtain.

You speak words I could never hear,
Kindness I could never feel, and gentleness I could never touch.

Walk with me, Spirit's Song, and sing gently to me in the night of your love.
Tell me of grasses sweet and lying in the sun together.

Tell me of moonlight and starlight somehow joined as one,
Forming an endless blanket of light for our roof.

Tell me of kisses and embraces and the passion of love that we would share.
And then, my lady fair, tell me that it will never end.

The Spirit’s Song

The Spirit's Song was lost in me, my heart was sinking low,
I drifted on the winds of change, I had nowhere to go.
But, then you came and with your voice, you spoke in tones so soft,
That in my heart, I found my choice, you set this bird aloft.

The eagle soared above my head, my spirit guide was free,
I felt the pull but could not reach, he was too high for me.
But, then you came, and lifted me, with love as pure as light,
My feet left ground, you gifted me, again you gave me flight.

I could not say I'd ever reach the goals I once had held,
I knew for me there was no use, my spirit was impaled.
But, then you came, and freed my soul, you righted what was wrong,
You are my dream, you made me whole, you are the Spirit's Song.

Spirit To Spirit

Even in sadness, my Spirit's Song sings to me.
She sings of gladness when my heart falls.
She tells of love in her words of cheer,
She defeats the sorrow when I'm against the wall.

Sometimes I cannot right myself,
Sometimes I cannot stand,
Sometimes I cannot face the night,
Sometimes I can't understand.

That's when I need her and she is there,
That's when she comes with wings,
That's when she speaks in a voice so soft,
That's when my Spirit's Song sings.

Oh, where would I be, sweet Spirit's Song?
Oh, where would this Spirit be?
Oh, where would joy and kindness be found?
Oh, where would my soul sail free?

If not for you, if not for your love,
If not for your words of strength,
If not for your caring, loving arms,
If not for your time at length.

I surrender to you, my Spirit's Song,
I surrender to you alone.
I surrender my heart, my love, my all,
I surrender, please, take me home.
