Genesis 17:1 to 17:27
1 And Honored-Father was ninety-nine years old, when Yahweh appeared to Honored-Father, and said to him, "I am El Shaddai, God-of-the-Mountain(?): walk before my face, and be perfect.
2 And I will set my contract between me and you, and will very greatly multiply your descendents."
3 And Honored-Father fell on his face; and Elohim talked with him, saying,
4 "It is I: behold, my contract is with you and you shall be a father of a multitude of nations.
5 And your name is no longer Honored-Father, but now you are
Father-of-a-Multitude; for I have made you a father of a multitude of nations.
6 And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you.
7 And I will establish my contract between me and you, and your seed after you in their generations, for an everlasting contract, to be an Elohim to you, and to your seed after you.
8 And I give to you, and to your seed after you, the land of your sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be an Elohim to them."
9 And Elohim said to Father-of-a-Multitude, "And as for you, you shall keep my contract, you and your descendents after you through the ages.
10 This is my contract which you shall keep, between me and you and descendents after you-- that every male among you be circumcised.
11 And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and that shall be a sign of the contract between me and you.
12 And at eight days old every male descendent through the ages shall be circumcised -- he who is born in the house, and the bought slave, any stranger who is not of your descent.
13 He who is born in your house, and he who is a bought slave, must be circumcised; and my contract shall be in your flesh for ever.
14 And the uncircumcised male who has not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be shunned by his kin: he has broken my contract."
15 And God said to Abraham, "As to Princesse your wife, you shall no longer call Princesse, but Princess shall be her name.
16 And I will bless her, and I will give you a son also of her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations: kings of peoples shall be of her."
17 And Father-of-a-Multitude fell on his face and smiled, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?"
18 And Father-of-a-Multitude said to Elohim, "Let God-Hears thrive, if you so will it!"
19 And Elohim said, "Princess your wife shall indeed bear you a son; and you shall call his name Laughter; and I will establish my contract with him which will be forever with his descendents after him.
20 As for God-hears, I have heard you: behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will very greatly multiply him; twelve princes he shall sire, and I will make him a great nation.
21 But my contract I will establish with Laughter, whom Princess shall bear to you at time when life is due."
22 And he left off talking with him; and Elohim went up from Father-of-a-Multitude .
23 And Father-of-a-Multitude took God-Hears, his son, and all who were born in his house and all his slaves-- every male among the people of Father-of-a-Multitude's house -- and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that same day, as Elohim had said to him.
24 And Father-of-a-Multitude was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25 And God-hears, his son, was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26 On the very same day was Father-of-a-Multitude circumcised, and God-Hears his son;
27 and all the men of his house, born in his house, or bought slaves, were circumcised with him.
