I saw a second movie today, and that was the Adam Sandler movie, Big Daddy.
This is the story of a guy named Sonny Kofax (possibly meant to be a joke about Sandy Kofax, the famous baseball pitcher of the fifties and sixties, but I can't prove it, so don't hold me to it). Anyway, Sonny is seeing this one girl, and his roommate is engaged to this other girl.
His roommate, a lawyer, gets called to China to do some business, and just after he leaves, a kid shows up, with a note that says that he is the rommmates son. Sonny has no idea what to do with him, and pretends to be the roommate so he can take care of the kid.
Over the next six weeks, he takes care of the kid, until the Social Services people realize that he isn't who he says he is, and then there's a big court case.
All the while he has the kid, he is romancing the sister of the girl who is marrying his roommate.
Anyway, this movie was rather good, with a sort of sad ending to it.
As a movie, I give it a rating of 3 Field Mice. Adam Sandler is his usual comedic self. Cursing and Sexual Innuendo his specialty.
As a warning, there are two guys in this movie, (friends of Sonny) who are gay, and at one point, they kiss, and hold hands, and hug. There are several scenes of the kid peeing publicly, and a fair amount of cursing. There is a running gag about the roommate's Fiancee working at Hooters (which isn't that bad, but I thought I would bring it up).
As a morality rating, I give it 1 1/2 Field Mice. Not too bad, not too good.
And as always, Ebert can have the Balcony, those other two can have the aisle seat, I want the exact middle!
