The next movie i have up for review is Drop Dead Gorgeous
Where The Haunting was a love story, this was a love story gone wrong. It's still about the love a mother has for her daughter, but its the love a mother has for her daughter to win. By any means nessecary.
So, in the small sleepy town of Mt Rose Minnesota, a beauty contest comes up, and a girl named Amber Atkins enters, and a girl named... uhhh...
I forget her name, but she's the snobby rich kid who expects to win, also enters.
Then, one of the other enteree's gets killed in a thresher accident, Amber's bf to be gets killed in a hunting accident, and a second enteree gets conked on the head by a light, Amber begins to suspect someone doesn't want her in the contest.
Then, on the day of the pageant, right in the middle of it, Amber's costume for the talent portion disappears. She will not be able to participate, and will be disqualified, if she can't find it.
A solution (which i will nto go into here or spoilers sake) presents itself, and she goes into the talent portion. sadly, though, she only wins second place.
Then, in the first of three plot twists, YET ANOTHER pageant contest dies, and she is elevated to First Place.
She competes in the state finals, and in the second plot twist, wins that too.
She travels down to alabama to compete in the National finals, and there, the thrid of the three plot twists comes.
This was a good movie. nice characters, good plot, nice twists. Kirstie Alley and Kirsten Dundst do good jobs, and it kept my attention the whole time.
I give it 4 Field Mice.
There was a little bit of cursing, and one of the judges was a pervert, who took a rather sick interest in young girls, but other then that, nothing objectionable was in the movie.
As a Morality Rating I give it 3 1/2 Field Mice.
