A dark story of misdirected stress. I guess.
Ed Norton is an overworked businessman suffering from Insomnia name Jack. On one of his business trips, he meets Brad Pitt playing a guy named Tyler Derden, a soap salesman. Tyler and Jack form a friendship, and when Jack comes home to find his apartment burned out, he calls Tyler, and stays at Tyler's place.
While out drinking one day, Tyler tells Jack to hit him as hard as he can. Jack asks why, and Tyler says it'll make you feel better. So he does. They get in a fight, and when it's over, they both feel better. From that time on, they meet once a week for a scuffle, to let stress get out.
Eventually, more people join in, and The Fight Club is started.
As is the case with most popular clubs, branches spring out. There is a fight club formed a couple miles away in another town. There's two more over here, and a couple over there. Soon, there are fight clubs all over.
Tyler takes it a step further (for a reason I'm not entirely sure of) and forms a militia like terrorist group with it, and calls it Operation Mischief.
Then, one of the original Fight Clubber's dies, and Jack realizes something is horribly wrong.
This was an interesting movie, with a nice plot twist to it. There was, however, ALOT of blood and gore to it. Not a movie for the weak of stomach.
I give it Three Field Mice.
One interesting thing to be watching for, is a movie marquis in the background. One of the movies playing at the theater is Seven Years in Tibet.
And, as always, Ebert can have the Balcony, the Sneak Previews guys can have the Aisle seats. I want the exact middle!
