In the opening scene of my next review, Officer John Brown is walking down the street, swinging his nightstick and greeting everyone who says hello to him.

Out of nowhere, a bus with busted brakes (and his niece Penny) comes hurtling down the street, just as five little girls decide to cross the street with the cute little pet dog.

Officer Brown goes charging down the street, out into the middle of the road, grabs the dog, and throws it up into the air, grabs the five girls up in his arms (yes, all of them at once) and sprints off the street, grabs a tow truck's hook and hurls it at the bus, hooking it on the bus' bumper, stopping it just before it crashes into a building with a big fluffy green button out front. Oficer Brown has saved the day.

Oh no! some one calls, THE DOG!!!

Officer Brown dashes back out into the street, and catches the dog, then hands it back to the little girl to whom it belongs. The girl he is secretly in love with grabs him, calls her his hero, and begins to kiss him.

At this point I turned to my little sister, who I was watching the movie with and said, Oh no! It's going to be goofy!

Then John Brown woke up, and it was all a dream.

So begins Inspector Gadget.

This movie was rather funny, and I enjoyed it immensely. The two doctors working on the gadget project develop a working gadget foot, which is promptly stolen, by a guy named Sandy Solex. Security Guard John Brown (Matthew Broderick) gives pursuit, and flips his car.

However, a billboard crashes down on Solex's car, trapping him. Solex pops out and tosses an exploding cigar at Brown. The car blows up sending a bowling ball up and over to the Limo with Solex in it. The bowling ball crushes Solex's hand.

So Dr. Claw has his innocuos beginning.

So also does Inspector Gadget become born.

Claw, however, uses the gadget foot to creat an entirely new robot, and unleashes him on the city. When Gadget goes to investigate Solex Industries, he is captured, and deactivated.

He is however, found and rescued, and confronts his evil twin on a bridge. The twin is momentarily defeated when his head becomes detached, but his body does go running off.

Gadget makes the joke about stopping when you're ahead. I groaned at that.

Gadget then confronts Claw aboard a helicopter, hovering 100 stories above the ground.

And the evil Twin's body is still out there......

All in all, this was a pretty good movie. I give it Three Field Mice. it was a bit on the goofy side, but that's okay, cause this is Inspector Gadget. Michelle Trachtenberg (AKA, Harriet the Spy) plays the part of Penny, and D.L. Hughley (from the ABC Sitcom, Meet the Hughley's) plays the voice of the gadgetmobile, which, i think, doesn't need a voice. Still, a car like that would be nice, since you just push a button and out pops Wendy's food.

*Grins wolfishly*

Oh, ummmm moving on. Three Field Mice for the movie.

Morality rating- Since it was a Disney movie, and geared at kids, there was no sex, and no cursing. I give it a morality rating of 4 1/2. There were some scenes of violence, but no deaths actually occured. (well, one did, but I can't tell you about it without spoiling the movie).

So, there's my two reviews for today. And, as always, Ebert can have the Balcony, those other two can have the Aisle Seats, I want the exact middle!
