Wesley F Wagnon - No enlistment record, Not on rolls, Casualty list in 7/2/1863 Richmond Enquirer lists a W F Wagnon of Co A as KIA during the period from 5/6/1864 through 5/16/1864. While there is no service record for a W F Wagnon in the Legion it turns out that another Co A soldier Eugenius N Wagnon had an older brother named Wesley F Wagnon. A newspaper article in the July 13th 1864 Augusta Daily Chronicle and Sentinel relates that Wesley had joined the 6th Alabama Infantry in 1861 and served with that unit until wounded at the battle of Seven Pines in 1862. Returning to Alabama he then enlisted in the 53rd Alabama Partisan Rangers, serving in the western theatre. Wishing to serve with his younger brother he transferred into Legion Co A on May 3rd 1864 and was killed at the Wilderness or Spotsylvania before he was ever recorded on a muster roll. John Williams - Enlisted 6/26/1861, Age 19, "Present" on all rolls through war until 1/30/1865, No further military record but his family informed us that he was actually a German immigrant (Born in Bavaria 1/28/1844) named John Wilhelm from New York, He was living with an uncle named Joseph W Funk in Greene County when the war broke out and joined Co A, After serving faithfully through the entire war he returned to New York, married to Mary Swick in 1867, raised a large family and lived to a ripe old age, He died 11/23/1921 at St Marys hospital in Hoboken NJ and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Queens NY
