WCW Monday Nitro Report - August 2, 1999 Hosted by Scott Hudson and Mike Tenay Live from Sioux Falls, South Dakota

• Harlem Heat d. The Triad with Booker T.'s Missle Dropkick:

- The Triad did their usual entrance before the match, taunting the crowd all the way through, as the crowd chanted, "You suck." Kanyon brought up that Harlem Heat was back together. The Triad then taunted Chris Benoit and his mother. DDP said the reason he didn't help David Flair the previous week on Nitro in his match with Benoit was because no one defended the United States Title like David did. Harlem Heat then made their ways out to get the non-title match underway, with the actual Tag Team Title match between the two teams taking place at the Road Wild PPV. Bam Bam Bigelow and Kanyon worked on both Stevie Ray and Booker T. Ray was later tagged in, at which point Harlem Heat started to dominate. As Ray and Bigelow battled on the outside of the ring, Booker hit the Missle Dropkick on Kanyon for the win. DDP, who returned to the ring, was about to nail Booker with a Tag Team Title belt in the process of Booker's finisher, but Chris Benoit took care of him. Benoit said he would show that he had a lot more than DDP later in the show. He told The Triad not to ever insult his mother.

• Backstage, Lenny and Lodi talked about clothes they use to wear in their younger days and wondered where Ernest Miller got his red dancing shoes from.

• Sting Interview.

- Sting said he didn't like the way the match of he and Hollywood Hogan vs. Kevin Nash and Sid Vicious turned out the previous week week, so Sting asked Goldberg to team up with him to take on Vicious and Rick Steiner later in the show. Sting said he would be back at 9:00pm to find out Goldberg's answer and to see if it was showtime.

• Ernest Miller (w/Sonny Onoo) d. Lenny with the Feliner:

- Ernest Miller said it wasn't funny when Buff Bagwell came out impersonating him. He said it would only be funny in 1920. As the crowd chanted, "Buff," Miller said Bagwell could steal his red shoes, but he (Miller) could still kick butt since he was the three-time karate champion. He said he would whop somebody without his red shoes. He said two people (Lenny and Lodi) wanted to know where he got the shoes from, so he would tell them in the ring. Lenny and Lodi had glitter all over them and sucked on their lollipops. Miller was set to take on Lenny, who was dominated. As the match went on, Sonny Onoo had Lodi chase him in the ring, which led to Lodi getting his lights knocked out. Miller finished off Lenny with the Feliner, without the red shoes.

• Hollywood Hogan Interview, Conducted by Gene Okerlund.

- Gene Okerlund brought up Hollywood Hogan's Road Wild Heavyweight Title match with Kevin Nash. Hogan, who no longer had a beard, said he use to run with Nash, until Nash stooped so low, to leave Hogan in a puddle of blood the previous week on Nitro, which apparently wasn't shown on television. Hogan said he was going to "shoot," saying it was no secret he and Nash didn't like each other behind-the-scenes. He said Nash was no different than anyone else who tried to knock Hogan out of his number one position. He said he would kick Nash's but in Sturgis, South Dakota. He said he had the title and had nothing to do, so he would sit around and challenge Nash to a match if Nash had the guts to show up. He said he would beat Nash for everyone. The crowd loudly chanted, "Hogan."

• Sting Interview.

- Sting asked Goldberg was or wasn't it showtime. Goldberg made his way out of the locker room, looked at the clock, and was about to make his way down to the ring, until he was distracted by Rick Steiner, who was in a storage room. Once Goldberg entered the room, he was hit from behind by a shovel, courtesy of Sid Vicious. Steiner then threw Goldberg across the room, causing Goldberg to crash on his shoulders and head. As Sting made his way to the back to assist Goldberg, Steiner locked the door of the room. Sting was outnumbered by Steiner and Vicious and was taken down to the ring. In the ring, Sting was trying to fight back, executing Stinger Splashes, but was taken down with a chokeslam. Goldberg got out of the room and ran down to the ring to scare off Steiner and Vicious. Goldberg said, "Why wait?"

• Disco Inferno d. Evan Karagias with the Last Dance:

- After Evan Karagias missed a dropkick, Disco Inferno hit the Last Dance for the win.

• Backstage, Torrie Wilson told David Flair he was the greatest working champion of all-time. David said he was the greatest. Wilson asked David why he was defending the United States Title so much. David said he didn't know, but after talking to his father on a leer jet, he was told he only had to defend it every 30 days and had Charles Robinson as his referee. Wilson said David had it made. David said he had beaten everyone and had to give his body a rest.

• Backstage, Sid Vicious taunted Goldberg and Sting.

• Dean Malenko & Shane Douglas d. The First Family (Hugh Morrus and Jerry Flynn, w/Jimmy Hart) with Douglas' Pittsburgh Plunge:

- After Dean Malenko and Shane Douglas lost their advantage, The First Family worked on Malenko. At one point, a tag was made to Douglas, but the referee didn't see it. Douglas was finally tagged in after Jerry Flynn landed on a turnbuckle. Jimmy Hart got on the apron and held up the Hardcore Trophy, but Hugh Morrus ended up going into it. After Jerry Flynn accidently gave Morrus a top rope clothesline, Douglas finished him off with the Pittsburgh Plunge. Malenko took the trophy and said, "This is going right back to where it belongs and that is Fit Finlay."

• Rick Steiner made his way down to the announcer's table and for no reason at all, took Scott Hudson in the ring, slammed him down, and punched on him. Bobby Heenan was long gone. Security made their ways in to stop Steiner's attack. A WCW trainer then made his way down to check on the knocked out Hudson. When returning from a commercial break, Hudson was carried out on a stretcher, put in a neckbrace, and taken to a local hospital in an ambulance. Eric Bischoff took over, along with a returning Heenan.

• Perry Saturn d. Curt Hennig (w/Bobby Duncum, Jr.) by Disqualification:

- Before the match, which was originally supposed to be Perry Saturn vs. Bobby Duncum, Jr., Curt Hennig made his way out. He said he had something really important to say, that would affect everyone in the arena and around the world. He said there was a lot of wrestlers trying to act, walk, and wrestle like him. He said we could call them Curt Hennig wannabes. He said now that his Rap is Crap song had skyrocketed to the top, Chad Brock, who would perform on Nitro the following week, was trying to use TNT to sell his records. Hennig said Brock was wrong if he thought he could do that. Hennig continued to insult Brock, calling him different names. He said he heard Warner Brothers signed Brock to a deal, but was wondering if it was dumb or dumber who signed him. Hennig then got on the apron and insulted Saturn, saying he wasn't from the planet Saturn, but rather Uranus. Saturn got on the microphone and said it was his time, calling Hennig a stupid redneck. Saturn told Hennig to bring it on. Hennig got in the ring and started the match with Saturn. As the match went on, which saw Eric Bischoff accidently say, "Here in the WWF ...," Hennig remained on top. Out of nowhere, Saturn hit the Death Valley Driver. When he was about to make the pin, The West Texas Rednecks interfered. Saturns was hog-tied and beaten down by Hennig, Duncum, Barry and Kendall Windham. Hennig even took a shot at the referee. Dean Malenko and Shane Douglas then made the save.

• Chris Benoit d. Diamond Dallas Page via Pinfall:

- Diamond Dallas Page went for the Diamond Cutter early, but Chris Benoit countered. DDP. As the match went on, with Diamond Dallas Page mainly dominating, Benoit hit is Diving Headbutt. David Flair was about to interfere, but Benoit knocked him out. Benoit then rolled up DDP for the pinfall. Kanyon and Bam Bam Bigelow then made their ways down, but Benoit knocked them out. When Benoit turned around, he was nailed with the Diamond Cutter. The Triad, along with David, who was with Torrie Wilson, continued their attack on Benoit.

• Backstage, Sid Vicious continued to taunt about being the man of the year 2000.

• Randy Savage Interview.

- Gene Okerlund said he introduced Gorgeous George, but wondered where she was. The crowd booed. Randy Savage said he just got off the phone with his campaign manager, Brent Carter. He said George was at home and had a hit list. He told Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Dennis Rodman they were all dead. He said he couldn't wait until Road Wild for his match with Rodman. He called out Rodman. Mona made her way down instead and asked Savage to reconsider hiring her for Team Madness. She said things were going well, but there was just a little friction with Madusa. Savage asked Mona if she was loyal to him. She said she was loyal. Savage grabbed her by the chin and had her get on her knees to beg for her job back, but it didn't help. Rodman then made his way out, guarded by Swoll and 4x4. Rodman called Savage Macho @sshole. He asked Savage if he was mad he (Rodman) had sex with George. Savage told Rodman to get his punkass down to the ring immediately so they could rock the place. Rodman said once you turn black, you never go bad. Savage said just because Rodman was somebody's bitch all his life, didn't mean for Rodman to come after Savage's. Mona low-blowed Savage from behind, at which point Rodman entered the ring, decked and elbowed Savage. Eric Bischoff apologized for Savage and Rodman's comments and said their microphones had been cut off. Rodman asked for a microphone, but they wouldn't give him one, as we went to a commercial break. The crowd chanted, "Rodman."

• Vampiro (w/Raven, Insane Clown Posse) d. Eddie Guerrero with the Vampiro Spike:

- Vampiro came out to new entrance music, which would be on the WCW Album, to be released in October by Tommy Boy Records. With cheapshots from The Insane Clown Posse, Vampiro was dominating Eddie Guerrero, until he landed between the ropes. ICP tried to interfere once again, but Guerrero took care of both Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J. Guerrero was about to go for a top rope maneuver, only to be knocked off by Raven. Vampiro then finished off Guerrero with the Vampiro Spike. ICP continued to stomp on Guerrero after the match, but were scared off by Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Konnan, who had a chair and no shoes on.

• Rick Steiner and Sid Vicious d. Goldberg and Sting by Disqualification:

- Eric Bischoff called out Hollywood Hogan to do color commentary. Bobby Heenan wanted to leave and did. Earlier in the show, Eric Bischoff announced that Sting's attorneys spoke with WCW's about changing the Presidency of WCW, which was apparently back in WCW's hands. The knot and cut on Goldberg's head was shown, which was caused by the crash he took in a storage room earlier in the show, after Rick Steiner threw him across it. Goldberg and Sting were hot in the beginning, but Rick Steiner and Sid Vicious were soon on top, working on Sting. After Sting knocked Vicious down, he strapped Vicious in the Scorpian Deathlock, but Steiner broke the submission maneuver. Steiner was about to bring a chair into the match, but Hogan ended up nailing him with it. The referee called the bell after Hogan nailed Vicious. Kevin Nash came out through the crowd and Jack-Knife Powerbombed Hogan through the announcer's table, at which point Nitro went off the air.
