When the writers go for a comedic episode they usually strike gold. And Comedy Of Eros continues that streak. The story had Xena and Gabrielle protecting a temple of Hestian virgins from the warlord Draco who plans to sell them to the highest bidder. Now this would normallly be a straight-forward story until Cupid's baby, Bliss, takes his dad'sfamous quiver of love-tipped arrows and starts shooting randomly at everyone. And what makes the story funny is how each person falls for another particular person as in Xena for Draco, Gabrielle for Joxer, and Draco for Gabrielle. Xena does her best to reign in her sudden overwhelming emotions for Draco but she realizes she still has a job to do in protecting those virgins. This is a wonderful episode with laughs aplenty and enough action to remind you this is still an action/fantasy show. Lucy Lawless is superb in a performance that lets her show her comedic side a lot. A nice change of pace for Xena and her friends in this wacky offering.
