Between the lines is by far one of the best episodes of the fourth season.
Filled with Xena's trade mark action sequences and the ritchportrayal of
ancient India in what is known as the "India Arch" in this season. Xena and
Gabrielle are sent into the future by a darshan, an enlightened one,named
Naima. There Alti, Khindin, has been hunting down the duo's karmicspirits
for her own gain. The role of character are surpriseingly switched intheir
future lives. Xena has become the great "Mother Of Peace", Arminestra,who
cannot kill because of her belief in non-violence, while Gabrielle hastaken
up thw sword as Shankti, the leader of the land.
Xena and Gabrielle (along with Shankti's soldiers) set out to stopAlti.
First in their future lives then, by useing "the power of the mendai"that
was hidden for them to use in the future, bringing her back in timewhere a
great faceoff errupts. (spoiler?) Gabrielle gets a peek on the vision,with
the help of Alti of course, loses her golden fleece, and Xena gets touse
some awsome powers during the fight sending Alti back where she camefrom.
This is one episode you will either love or pass up.
