Ok guys, this is a personal biography. I didn't want to copy the one from MCA Nashville because I thought it was too, well, impersonal, and you know, unlike Trisha. So I wrote one and if I've done mistakes or if I forgot something, please feel free to correct me!!!!!!
Plus I'd like to Thank my wonderful godmother, who spend a lot of time correcting my grammars mistakes (So that means: If something isn't spelled correctly, I didn't ask her to look at it!!) And I'd like to say that she and her husband are also a VERY cute couple!!!!! (he he he he he Je t'aime Marraine!!!!)
The first time I heard Trisha Yearwood sing, I thought she was an angel. I was half wrong. She surely was sent by God with a talent only He could create, but she came in this world the old-fashioned way!!!
Patricia Lynn Yearwood was born in Monticello, Georgia. Her parents, Gwen (A now retired school teacher) and Jack (A now retired banker) didn't know their younger daughter would become one of the brightest country music star. But SHE always knew. Trisha started to sing along to her mother's records at age five.
Then she sang at school and in church. Her older sister, Beth, was her early duet partner. In college, Trisha appeared in plays and musicals, but she was still far from Nashville. So, she made a deal with her parents; she'll continue school if she could go to school in Nashville. She arrived in town in 1985 and obtained a degree in music business at the Belmont College(now University) in 1987. Along with that, she was a receptionist at the former MTM record. She was also recording demo tapes. It spread quickly around the Nasheville songwriters community that there was a new singer that really could breath life into a song. It took a year of mouth-to-ear to make it steady enough for Trisha to quit her job at MTM and do it full time. That's where she met(introduced by Kent Blazy) a now very famous demo singer, Garth Brooks!!! He introduced her to Allen Reynolds, who introduced her to Garth Fundis. Apparentely, something clicked. In 1990, they've organized a showcase in a club and invited major labels. After her performence, MCA approched her and asked if she would cut a record for them. She was in the studio by Christmas and 'She's in love with the boy' came out on the radio in april. Trisha became the first female artist to hit the top of the charts with her first release('She's in love with the boy' stayed two weeks at number one) and whose debut cd went multi platinium!!! That same year, she won ACM's 'New Female Vocalist Of The Year' and in 1992 'Favorite New Artist' from the American Music Awards. She was, at that time the opening act for Garth Brooks
In december 1991, her video clip 'That's what I like about you' came out on CMT. Robert Reynolds, bass player of the Mavericks, saw that video while he was at his grand-mother's place for Christmas. He thought that Trisha had "something really neat" even if he didn't knew who she was(Trisha was still fairly new). In march, there was the Country Radio Seminar and they were giving clips of every artist in loop. Robert saw the clip again and told Paul Deakin(his drummer and best friend): 'Here's this girl I was telling you about. She's gonna be here, I'm gonna meet her and I'm gonna kiss her goodnight'. They met and got along very well indeed and Robert DID kiss Trisha goodnight.(Who says that love at first sight doesn't exist???)After a two year courtship, they married on may 21 1994, at the Ryman Auditorium. Trisha said that she knew she was going to marry him when she realised that she loved him the way her mom loves her dad. Unfortunately, every dream must come to an end. Trisha and Robert parted after 5 years of shared happiness.
In the same year they got married, Trisha won her first Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Aaron Neville for the song 'I fall to pieces'(previously released by Patsy Cline).
In 1995, Trisha did a huge European tour, won Female Vocalist Of The Year at the Nashville Music Awards and sang for the first time the National Anthem at the World Series in Atlanta. If you think that's huge, wait 'till you see what's coming. Trisha sang at the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Pretty cool, huh???
1997 was an important year. It was the year that she recorded 'How Do I Live' for the movie 'Con Air'. They asked her to record the song in may and the movie was due in june!!! She had 10 days to deliver the song, to make sure it was alright and to make a video out of that. Even if she had to hurry, both the song and the video are masterpieces. Plus she won Female Vocalist of the year at the Country Music Association Awards, at the British Country Music Awards and finaly from CMT Europe. And it was far from being over.
1998 was THE year. Trisha went home with the Femal Vocalist of the year at _4_ different ceremonies: The Nashville Music Award, The Academy Of Country Music Awards, The Country Music Association awards> and The R&R Readers Poll Awards!!! And she won 2 grammys: Best Country Perfomance for 'How Do I Live' and Best Country Collaboration with Garth Brooks for 'In Another's Eyes'. Impressive??? Just wait, I'm not done yet. Trisha sang 'How Do I Live' at the OSCAR!!!
She said it was a stress free night, because she only had to sing. Stress free??? She sang for millions of viewers. Then she sang in Italy with Pavarotti, at the Pavarotti and friends concert and after that , for the second time, the National Anthem at the third game of the World Series. OUF!!!
In 1999 Trisha became the 71th member of the Grand Ole Opry, her induction took place march 13th at the Ryman Auditorium! She won Female Vocalist of the year for a third time at the Nashville Music Awards; was nominated for 3 Gammys and for Top female Vocalist Of The Year at the Association of Country Music Awards and was nominated for 2 CMA awards. She could have made history that night and be the third woman to win three years in a row. Unfortunately, Martina McBride won. We're all happy for her, of course.
Even though Trisha took 99 off, she didn't quite stoped working. She worked on her ninth album, REAL LIVE WOMAN which is, in my opinion, the best album she did. The launching of RLW, at the end of march 2000, was a done in a whirlwind of TV appearences and radio shows. It was criticly acclaimed and went gold(500 000 copies sold) in 6 weeks! She kicked off a huge tour April 25 in St.Louis, MO. The tour will take her through all the States, a little in Canada and she'll be in Europe in September. Even though she doesn't have much time, she still manage to make her yearly apearence on JAG as TERESA COULTER.
In all these years, Trisha toured almost non stop, made 9 CDs, been on at least one thousand Talkshows and radioshows, she recorded 4 episodes of JAG, made a cameo apperence in the movie 'That thing called love', sang at many awards shows and sang on a lot of various artists records. She still as modest, down-to-earth and she know how to make every fan feel important.
In retrospect I think I was right, Trisha Yearwood IS an angel.. No human being could stay the same, having Trisha's talent, charm, grace and her level of celebrity.
