Okay, it's time to go out on a limb. Metro Atlanta has plenty of good barbecue restaurants. These five (listed in no particular order) have distiguished themselves as the best of the best:
Fox Brothers Pork (pulled or sliced) and sides are some of the best anywhere. When the food is so good that cheapskates like me don't even blink at the high price, you know you've found something REALLY special.
Daddy Dz' The Bar-B-Que Joynt The sauce is the secret of Daddy Dz' success - love at first bite.
Barbecue Works My co-workers and I eat at this Underground Atlanta establishment often. Meats, sides and desserts are all wonderful.
Spiced Right Barbecue Spiced Right does practically everything right - meat, eight sauces, vegetables, and cornbread.
The Swallow at the Hollow Gourmet sauces, beautiful presentation, three homemade breads -what they may lack in redneck authenticity they make up for in sheer skill. Our panel unanimously ranks this the best in town, by far.
