EMPLOYMENT AND MEDIA BACKGROUND
I began my Broadcasting as on-air talent and gained sales experience in Junior High School at local radio stations, WMTM-AM/FM and WMGA-AM, in Moultrie, GA. I continued my career while in high school and college while working at various and some legendary radio stations: WVLD-Valdosta, GA, WFUN-Miami, FL, WDOL-AM/FM-Athens, GA, WAPE- Jacksonville, FL.
Upon graduation from college, I continued my career in radio in the position of on-air talent and the programming departments of: WTAL-Tallahassee, FL, WGLF-Tallahasee FL, and WCGQ-FM, Columbus, GA. In 1978, I received the RMR Programming Award of the Year and numerous acknowledgements within the national music industry for radio.
I later moved into full time local sales management and then was appointed as General Manager of WJAD-FM, in the Bainbridge/Albany, GA Market. I took the station through two upgrades to a full Class C status (100,000 Watts and 1050' tower). The station then became the Arbitron rated #1 Contemporary Hit Radio formatted regional radio powerhouse, and after the death of the owner in 1986 it was sold for a top market value of over two million dollars.
From 1988 to the present date I have served in the positions of General Manager, Sales Manager, and Programming Consultant for stations in GA, FL, MN, and MS: WPPR-FM, WZKX-FM, KCPI-FM, WZLS-FM, WFFM-FM, and WBCD-FM. I was also the owner-publisher of the Gulf Coast Beach Bull Publication for the Mississippi Gulf Coast region. I entered the professional field of Human Services Technology in 1997 and graduated from Darton College in 1999. I am continuing my college studies to achieve additional degrees in A & D Counseling and Social Work. I am employed full time at the Crisis Stabilization Unit of Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, GA and work on a part-time basis in radio broadcasting at WMTM-AM/FM - Moultrie, GA. I am also involved in broadcasting development of McHan and Associates of Jacksonville, FL.
