"The Indian Child"

The children of the tribes were also very important. It was in their hands to carry on the legend and culture of the tribe. They were taught how to hunt and gather, play war games, participate in war, weave and sew, and most of all love nature and everything in the world.

The childrens' mother's brother was the one to train the boys and decide when he was ready to go into war and be accepted as a man, so therefore he was often the most important figure in the childs' life.

They were never spanked but instead lightly scrapped with thorns or humiliated. The children shared responsibilities with the adults and never complained, to them it was the balance between adults and children that kept the tribe stable.
