"Horse"

In Cherokee culture possibly one of the most significant animals was the great and powerful horse. The horses used by the indians normally came from the wild and were tamed by the indian who desired to use it. The most common breed of horse used was the pinto and was usually rode bare back.

The horse was used for transportation during fights and during hunts. It was also used to travel long distances when the Cherokee would have to go in search for more deer and buffalo.

The horse also had sentimental value; it was common for a man that was in love to give his most special object to the one he loved, in many cases this was the horse.
