1. Check the trash can before you throw your food away.
At our McD's, there are 5 trash cans, but 2 of them are the closest cans on your way out. Now, there are 2 other cans that are also on the way out, those are like 2 feet away from the other two. But what happens is this: everyone throws away their food in the same two trash cans. So, those 2 get extremely full while the other 3 are almost empty. When we are busy, we don't have a chance to go change the trash constantly and when we finally get a chance too, then the trash cans are very full, it's hard to tie up the bags, the bags are very heavy, and sometimes there is trash spilling out onto the floor that we get to come back and sweep up. So, please, just push the lid in with your tray and check the trash can before you try to stuff more into an already full trash can. It doesn't take that much effort on your part, makes our day easier, and keeps our restaraunt cleaner, something we all enjoy :)
2. Trays.
First off, don't throw away your tray. That one is pretty obvious. Second, don't be messy. Some people just aren't smart. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, we don't get brand new trays to hand out. We clean the ones we already have. Not at the sink either. We spray them with Sanitizer and wipe them with a cloth. Now, if you like a lot of ketchup on your fries, put the ketchup on either the paper liner we put on the tray or even better, on the *wax* paper that your sandwich comes in. That way, it doesn't seep through or get on the tray and we don't have to wipe it off. It's very unnecessary. It only takes a small action on your part. It's not like I'm asking you to give up ketchup, just keep it off my trays! Ever now and then we get a tray with ketchup all over the side of it. I cleaned one recently that had ketchup glopped all over it. They didn't even use the ketchup! They just wanted to be a jerk. No real point. They just aren't intelligent.
3. Don't break salt/pepper shakers
This is for all the morons in the world who for some reason find pleasure in making us have to clean up after them. This, by the way, makes no sense whatsoever, since they never even stay to watch us go through the "pain" of cleaning up. Actually, it's not really even that much of a pain to clean up, but the whole principle of the thing just ticks us off. "They get paid to clean up, don't they?" Is not how it is at all. Yes we do, but we aren't paid to clean up after immature morons who are just looking to try and be immature morons in order to "have fun" Go break dirt clods or something. I'm sure with your obvious level of intelligence that it will be equally entertaining.
4. Coming in Late
People that come in late affect counter much more than they do Drive-Thru, so I'm just going to write about it here. Anyway, the person on counter has to wipe down all the tables, sweep and mop the whole lobby, clean the bathrooms, and stock stuff up like the condiments table. Now, it's true that we stay open until 12:00 or whenever and its our duty to serve you until then, but we don't like getting home at 2:00 in the morning, so what we do is this: When it gets late, we start cleaning up early. Now, it's hard for the counter person to clean the lobby when there are people in it. Plus, they have to take orders and get food, etc. Who wants McDonald's food at 11:30 anyway? Go to Kroger, they're open 24 hours, and it's a lot more fun. If you have a Wal*Mart with a grocery that's even better. Be creative, stay out of our lobby. Just cause we work at McDonald's doesn't mean we don't have a life... we do have a life and we want to get back to it and have money to spend in it and that's why we work. Having a life means we need sleep. During school, it's a very good thing if we can finish our work early and go home and sleep at home instead of in first period the next day. For some of us, school is important. So, be polite and don't come in if you know we are about to close. At the very least, go through Drive-Thru.
