3. Shudder

Scott: That was lyrically re-written in the studio while we were re-working the song. The lyrics came really quickly and easily to me. It was a stream of consciousness thing, really, and it was based on the kind of situation where everybody’s in on the joke but you. There’s a little bit of guilt laced through as well.

James: Musically, when we got into pre-production we decided to make the chorus one key higher and it changed the whole mood of the song. It just achieved such an amazing life that way. I still can’t understand why.
