"Gilmore Girls"
It was in a storybook Connecticut town populated with an electic mix of everyday folks and lovable lunatics, Gilmore Girls was a humorous multigenerational series about friendship, family and the ties that bind. Thirtysomething Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) has made her share of mistakes in life, but she has been doing her best to see that her college-bound daughter - and best friend in the world - Rory (Alexis Bledel), doesn't follow in her footsteps. That may be easier said than done, considering that the two share the same interests, the same intellect, the same coffee addiction and the same eyes. Rory is more serious than Lorelai, but there are tendencies, especially in the love department, that clearly indicate she is her mother's daughter. From the beginning, this unique mother-daughter team has been growing up together. Lorelai was just Rory's age when she became pregnant and made the tough decision to raise her baby alone. She ran away from her affluent parents and lifestyle with her baby and ended up in Stars Hollow working as a maid. She later became manager of that Inn and went on to own her own Inn with her partner and chef, Sookie. (Melissa McCarthy). Stars Hollow had a great cast of characters, we got to see Sally Struthers again and Liz Torres. Also Kelly Bishop, some of you may remember her as the Mom in Dirty Dancing.

I must mention Kirk, Taylor Dosey, and Mrs. Kim, played respectively by Sean Gunn, Michael Winters, and Emily Kuroda.

Several young stars got their start on The Gilmore Girls: Chad Michael Murray and Jared Padalecki.

The show ran for 7 seasons, 2000 - 2007, and didn't end the way the writers intended, they had written a season ending not a series ending. This left many of us die hard fans really unhappy! I have all 7 seasons on DVD, but they do show reruns all the time on television too.

However I have great news! I found a web site called "Virtual Gilmore Girls" Where some very talented writers have written 3 more seasons that you can read! You can picture the characters as you read and finally find out what happened with Luke and Lorelai!

The underlying story was the love interest of Lorelai and Luke, (Scott Peterson) Fans knew this is who she belonged with even though it took forever to get there after several tries.

Gilmore Girls was the first series to make it to air supported by the Family Friendly Forum's script development fund. An initiative between some of the nation's top advertisers and The WB, the program was intended to offer a greater array of compelling family programming on network television. The strong and loving mother-daughter relationship portrayed in Gilmore Girls reflects the growing reality of this new type of American family.

Until next time...see ya around the Hollow!
