Unite for School Success
Volunteer Success Story

In just a few days at the end of August, a team of around 100 Volunteers made 3325 phone calls to students, parents and the local community in an effort to rally support for the new school, increase public awareness of USS and to promote pre-registration. This massive effort was headed by Ashlie Henderson,a working mother of three young children, who stepped up to the challenge of volunteering and continuing her regular life at home.

Ashlie volunteered for this project last March during one of the community meetings held at Westview Elementary. She identified a need and came up with a way that she could contribute something to the efforts already underway by USS. This is a true Volunteer success story. Ashlie is a highly motivated and organized person. She took those skills and pulled together many people and local businesses to assist in the project. That is the spirit that USS is promoting through all of our efforts. We envision the school will be a success only with a community wide focus on promoting the best for our children and the community at large.

Ashlie outlined 4 main goals for the phone-a-thon and really succeeded in accomplishing them all with positive residual impact on other events. She involved special guests such as James Colbert, Linda Mosley and Larry Henry to make sure the volunteers knew that Hamilton County Department of Education supports USS efforts.
