A little about me. I was born in Baton Rouge, LA when my dad was in grad school at LSU. Little did they know that I would grow up to love cats. After graduating from LSU, we moved to Charleston, West Virginia. I attended kindergarten at Rock Lake Presbyterian followed by Richmond Elementary and Cross Lanes Elementary. From there I spent 7th and part of 8th grade at Nitro Junior High (Nitro Alumni). (If you love West Virginia and/or the Appalachian Mountains the way I do, you don't want to miss Michael Shnayerson's "The Rape of Appalachia" in Vanity Fair.) The Sierra Club has loads of information about mountaintop removal. National Geographic also has a nice online resource to Discover Appalachia In 1978, another family move brought me to Grosse Ile, Michigan where I attended Grosse Ile Junior High and Grosse Ile High School. a recent photo of the house on Berkshire Here is a really cool aerial picture of Grosse Ile that I found on the web. This has some cool river pictures, including pictures of the Tugboat Shannon. I like bridges (Grosse Ile free bridge,Grosse Ile Bridge Company and New River Gorge Bridge). More about the:My mom is originally from East Prairie, Missouri and my dad is from Paducah, Kentucky. MiscellaneousWhen I was a Girl Scout, we took a trip to Columbus, Ohio and spent the weekend locked-in at COSI. Camden Park in Huntington, WV was always a fun place to visit as a kid. Some significant sports memories include attending the worst no-hitter loss in the 20th century at old Comiskey Park. There is more information here. I also got to see Robert Alexander play in the '70s in a WVU vs. VPI game (during a blizzard) in Morgantown. I won a trip to Hawaii (my second visit) to attend the Monster Energy Pipeline Pro on the North Shore in January 2007. Here is an article in Surfer magazine about the event. Monstrous conditions from surfersvillage.com. In MemoriumModelle Catherine Bradley Scott |
