He served with the 2nd Louisiana Volunteer Regiment, Pelican Rifles
He traveled behind Yankee lines to take messages from Desoto Parish soldiers back to Desoto Parish
After the war he served as Pelican Rifles Historian
He was a member of United Confederate Veterans
He was buried in the Confederate section of Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Desoto Parish, Louisiana by his comrades-in-arms
He is one of the only black people buried in that cemetery, his brother veterans insisted he be buried there because of his devotion and courageous service to his country and State


William H. "Ten-Cent Bill" Yopp


He served with Company H of the 14th Georgia Regiment
He was a member of the Atlanta Camp, United Confederate Veterans
He is buried in the Confederate Cemetery at Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia
He was a valient and brave black Confederate soldier

He served with Company B of the 48th Alabama Infantry
He was born in 1822 in North Carolina
He died on February 20, 1863 of Typhoid in Confederate Hospital in Richmond, Virginia
He is buried in Noble Hill Cemetery, Etowah County, Alabama

He served with Company K, 26th North Carolina Infantry
He enlisted on October 17, 1862, Anson County, North Carolina at the age of 45
He survived Gettysburg only to be captured at Falling Waters, Maryland. He was confined at Point Lookout on August 20, 1863
He was paroled October 30,1864, returned to unit, captured at Anson County North Carolina, returned a second time to Point Lookout, Maryland on March 30,1865. He was released June 24,1865
He survived the war a very determined soldier and died in 1921.
