He enlisted on May 6, 1862 as a Private in Company K, of the 53rd Regiment Georgia Infantry.



William Eccles Wigley

Great,Great Grandfather of Thomas Wigley and Robert Wigley

Served with the 1st Georgia Cavalry, Company D.,known as Captain Seawright's Company, Lt. Col. Morrison's Battn.,under General Wheeler.
He enlisted on March 3, 1861 in Dallas, Georgia.
He was captured at Louden, Tennessee just before the Siege of Knoxville but escaped and rejoined the outfit.
He survived the war and in 1873 helped to found Minneola, Texas. He died on November 23, 1915 at the age of 82 and is buried in Hillsboro, Texas.

Private George W. Fulgham
Great,Great Grandfather of James Wallace, of Texas

9th Texas Cavalry, Co. F "Cypress Rangers"
Captured in Tennessee and imprisoned at
Camp Douglas, Chicago.
He survived the war and died in 1874.




Private Hugh Lilley Watson
Great,Great Cousin of James Wallace, of Texas

Co. I 9th Texas Cavalry.




Private Jacob Sidney Underwood
Great Grandfather of Timothy A Sheppard, of Belmont, NC

Served with Company C, 10th North Carolina Artillery.
He enlisted for the war on March 17, 1864, and fought under General A. P. Hill in the Army of Northern Virginia.
He was in attendance at Appomattox Courthouse when General Lee surrendered on April 9, 1865.
He died in 1923 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.


Marion Jackson
Great Grandfather of B.H. Evans

He served with the 44th Regiment, Hughies Guards.
He was wounded at the Battle of Ellersons Mill at Mechanicsville, June 26-27, 1862.
He had to have his lower leg amputated at a Richmond hospital.
He was from Fayette County, but died and is buried in Haralson County, Georgia.


Joseph Flurry
He was a Pvt in the Confederate States Army, Co "C" 9th Mississippi Cavalry.
He was born on 5 April 1836 and died on 29 April 1911.


William Warren Braden

He was a 1st Lt. with Holman's 11th Tennessee Cav,regiment.


Alfred G. Duke
Great,Great Grandfather of Kimberly Gouge Smith.

He was born August 20, 1846.
He joined the 1st GA Cavalry, Co. G, on April 12, 1864 in Oxford, AL.
He served as a private until April 26, 1865 when Gen. Joseph E. Johnston surrendered the Army of Tennessee to Gen. W.T. Sherman.
Alfred was paroled in Charlotte, NC on May 3, 1865.
Alfred died at the Confederate Soldiers Home of Georgia on November 20, 1930. He is buried at the Duke Family cemetery in Cobb county, GA.
He had 6 brothers that also served.

He was born March 14, 1828 and died July 15, 1862.


James F. Duke
Great,Great Uncle of Kimberly Gouge Smith.

He was born December 20, 1830.
September 25, 1861 he was a Private in Co. G 30th Regiment, GA Vol Infantry, Army of Tennessee.


William H. Duke
Great,Great Uncle of Kimberly Gouge Smith.

He was born December 5, 1833. He died August 19, 1862 at Lookout Mt. Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
He was a private in Co. I, 2nd Regiment, GA Cavalry.
He is buried in the Duke Family cemetery with his wife Jane.


George W. Duke
Great,Great Uncle of Kimberly Gouge Smith.

He was born July 3, 1836.
August 23, 1861 he was a private in Co. D, 7th Regiment, GA Vol Infantry, Army of North Virginia.
He was discharged in Richmond, VA on December 25, 1861.


John L. Duke
Great,Great Uncle of Kimberly Gouge Smith.

He was born November 13, 1838.
February 27, 1862 he was a private in Co. L, 1st Regiment, GA Regulars, Army of Tennessee.
On May 1, 1862 he became a 2nd Corporal, later a Sgt. April 26, 1865 surrendered in Greensboro, NC.


Noah S. Duke
Great,Great Uncle of Kimberly Gouge Smith.

He was born 1841.
on August 23, 1861 was a Private in Co. D, 7th Regiment, GA Vol Infantry, Army of North Virginia.
He died at Culpepper, VA on December 25, 1861.
