Epilogue

Rachel was married in the small church just on the edge of Lenox. She wore a simple dress, with those whimsical ruffled sleeves that oddly made her feel beautiful and graceful; like a princess. The three men in her life—three of the four best mean she’d ever known, waited at the end of the isle; not just James and Matt, but his father as well.
There was a glint in Gregory Forester’s eyes, as if he’d known, and had only been waiting. He liked to say that he was their matchmaker.
The forth of those men, her father, walked her down the isle on his arm. Her sister stood to the side, a tear running down her near perfect face, no longer a near mirror of her own.
But it didn’t bother her, not today. They were different. Rebecca had been right. They had always been different. If it showed through a mark on her face, it was only because she’d followed her dreams. And those dreams had led her here to Lenox. To James.
And to Matt.
Today she felt beautiful. Together with Rebecca, she’d prayed for that peace; that at least on her wedding day, she would feel beautiful. That the scar, the pain of seeing it, would fall away. That Shatler’s mark would not enter into her union with James.
So in that small church, on the edge of town, she said her vows. She took his promise, and she made her own.
And she joined herself, heart, body, mind and soul with the family God had given her.
Out west, on her adventure.
With so much more left to come.
