If I opened the door of my heart to you
Would you come on through?
If I asked you if you loved me
Would you say ‘I do’?
If I wandered lost and lonely
Would you come and be my guide?
If I ran into some trouble
Would you stay, or run and hide?
If I told you that I loved you
Would you issue the same plea?
If I told you I was lonely
Would you come and talk to me?
If I needed a supporter
Would you let me lean on you?
If I broke down into pieces
Would you help to pull me through?
If I ever, ever wronged you
Would you point out my mistake?
If I ever did something sinful
Would you correct me for my sake?
If I told you something secret
Would you take me at my word?
If I ever started to despair
Would you point me back to God?
