I Never Noticed
For half my life I’ve listened,
Listened for a sound.
Half my life I’ve looked for it,
Looked for it all round.
And yet I didn’t notice
When of me it became a part;
I completely failed to notice
When love crept in my heart.
I’ve heard the heart can find true love
In some of the strangest places;
I’ve heard the heart can see right through
Some of the strangest faces.
But even then, I didn’t think
That mine would find love there
But it really doesn’t matter now
Because I know you care.
Of all of those it could have been,
Of all of those I knew,
Of all of those it could have been,
I’m afraid, my friend, it’s you.
