This page is dedicated to James MacMORRINE and Anna DAVY, two Australian pioneers who moved to New Zealand to the Tauranga area before the turn of the century, when their home in the McLeay River area (New South Wales), was destroyed by a disastrous flood. The family farmed at Te Puna Point for a number of years and ran the first Post Office in the Omokoroa area from their home.
James died as a result of an accident on the Tauranga wharf in 1902; the town of Tauranga closed all shops as a mark of respect on the day of his funeral. He left his widow with nine children to raise - eight of them girls. Click here to read the report of the accident.
Anna lived to the great age of 81, and died at Omokoroa.
