Denver Pyle

Denver Pyle was born in Bethune, Colorado on May 11, 1920. His mother named him after her favorite city. Denver has many film and television credits but is best known for his role as Uncle Jesse. Some of the many movies he was in are "The Guilt of Janet Ames", "The Alamo", "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", and "Bonnie and Clyde" directed by fellow Dukes of Hazzard star James Best. His last big screen appearance was in the theatrical version of "Maverick" as one of the riverboat gamblers. Denver was a mainstay on "The Roy Rogers Show" and "The Gene Autry Show". Other TV appearances include western classics such as "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke", Mr. Darling on the "Andy Griffith Show", and "The Life And Times of Grizzly Adams". His final performance was his reprise of his famous role of Patriarch of the Duke Clan Uncle Jesse Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard Reunion.
