"Dusty, Here!"

Understanding a Dog's Point of View!

Dusty, Here! We welcome you to this page of our site and thank you for your review of our new book, "Dusty, Here!" Understanding a Dog's Point of View.

With the help of a Welsh Terrier name Dusty, his owner Bettie LaDuke and I (Duff Lueder, KNINEPAL Dog Training/Master Trainer) wrote this book to assist people in understanding and communicating with their dogs in a way that the dog could relate, based on the dog's view of the world. In order for that to work, we as human leaders also need to understand and relate to the differences in how dogs view the world from the way we do, so that communication and training can be successful.

That being said, this book can help dog owners view their dogs in a different light that can make the training process more fun and successful, as well as provide you with tips on practical day to day methods of modifying your dog's unacceptable behavior.

The following are some of the topics addressed in, "Dusty, Here!":

Alpha Leadership and what it means.

Aggression types--Dominance, Food, Possession & Territorial.

Dog Rules for Children.

Digging issues.

Play Biting--normal for dog interaction, not for dog/human interaction.

House Training.

Crate Training.

Walking on a leash.

Jumping.

Discipline without Punishment.

FROM THE PUBLISHER ( www.authorhouse.com)

"Learn----how your dog interprets nature, verbal commands, and body language. Learn practical ways to modify your dog's unacceptable behavior, without breaking his spirit or destroying her personality. This book of e-mails between Dusty (a dog) and Uncle Duffy (his trainer) is both funny and informative. It is for everyone who has ever been confused, disappointed, discouraged, or downright exasperated by their dog's behavior. "Dusty, Here!" will help you understand that your dog's behavior problems are not intentional; that your dog wants to please you and diligently works at doing so. Complete with clever illustrations and dog portraits of Dusty's friends, this book will appeal to children and adults alike. It is entertaining and educational. A must Read!"

A review from Amazon.com....."Dog Breeder of 30+years "Candy" (Florida) "Refreshing new book from the dogs point of view. If you ever thought the chewed up shoes, pottied floors, or bitten heels were a sign of disrespect, no connection with your dog, this is for you. It will help you see how your dog is communicating and how to change that behavior to something more acceptable. Written by a respected national trainer on a level never done before. Loved it!"

Another review from Amazon.com.....K. Mccormick (Seattle, WA USA)--"Excellent resource for people who want to understand and communicate with their dogs instead of relying on gimmicks intended merely to control them. Written in a lighthearted, easy to understand style, this little book puts the plain old fun back into having a dog in the family and lets you know that neither you nor your canine child is crazy."

"Thanks for a great book! My puppy and I are learning a lot. Your book is entertaining and informative at the same time. Great job!" Barbara Zanco

A review from Barnes and Noble....."Unique Prospective on Dogs. This is an enjoyable book, as it reminded me of things I went through with the dogs that I have owned, and how I misunderstood some of the things they did. It helped me put myself in their paws so to speak and I believe it will help me be a better dog owner because of it. I throughly enjoyed the dialoge between Dusty and his trainer. This was a unique way of putting things in perspective and making learning more personal".

"I really enjoyed your book. It took me down a trip through memory lane when we were working together for my pup. It also gave me an opportunity to review some of the techniques that you taught me (and my K-9 Pal). I also recognized some of the behavioral issues that we addressed. Dusty helped too! The book is written in a unique way that makes it easy to get into a dog's shoes and then see a better way to handle the issues. Thank you for writing the book and for all the training you have given me and my pal." Kathy Rusk

Bettie LaDuke and I are proud of both the progress Dusty made and for the fact that his successess with Bettie (with the issues you will see that he had), became the inspiration for this book. Bettie and Dusty are shining examples in receiving the rewards of a loving, bonding relationship with each other, that comes from never giving up.

We want to thank you for your review of this web page and to leave you with a thought: No book, not even this one, is going to have all the answers for everyone or every dog. But it can hopefully provide some insight that you may not have had before. The information in "Dusty, Here!" should not be construed as a substitute for hands- on instruction from a qualified trainer, but can be in addition to such training.

Our suggestions and tips in this book are not considered by us to be the--only way--the best way--or even the right way, but rather--simply another way, based on education and experience.

We wish you the very best with your four legged friend.

Thank you.
