“Froggy Happenings Around the World”

Are you a frog fanatic??

Introduction:  Have you seen the missing frogs?  Welcome aboard the Fantastic Froggy Freightline.  It has recently been rumored that there have been frog sightings around the world.  It is your job to capture the “at large” frogs and bring them back to the zoo from which they escaped. You will chase they frogs to each sight that they have been spotted at.   The zoo cannot build the Feeling Froggy Frog Farm Exhibit without the frogs.  They need your help.  Frogs are amazing creatures.  The zoo-goers are terribly upset that the upcoming main attraction at the Animal Fair Zoo has escaped.  Your job as frog finders will be complete when you and your group have successfully captured the frogs and they are back safely, and might I add securely at the zoo.

Task:  In groups of three, you will visit each web site (frog sighting) in search of the frogs.  Each web site will contain questions that you need to be sure to answer.  These web sites and questions will help you understand facts about the frog that is at each sighting.  At the end of the webquest you will answer questions about your group’s performance.  You should get the sheet from the teacher.  Happy Frog Hunting!!

Roles:

***roles will be drawn out of a bag to avoid conflict***

1.       Navigator- It is your job to control the computer.  You are the person that will make the computer go where you need to go to find the frogs.

2.     Recorder- You are to take the notes needed about the frog from each web site.  This includes the answers to the questions that you answer.  The other two in your group should give you the answers to the questions.

3.     Frog Man- It is your job to report to the group which type of frog was found at each of the sightings.  Your job is very important because you have to name the type of frog spotted.

1.       What type of frog is this?

2.   What is his most distinguishing feature? (in other words, what do you notice        first about him)

** answer is found in article.  Do not make your own guesses!!

5.     What do these frogs eat? (pick three answers)

6.     What part of this frog’s body helps him survive?  Why?

Congratulations!  Your hard work paid off.  You were able to reach the Nashville Zoo before the frog did.  Thanks to you, the frogs are back safely where they belong—safe from predators.  The zoo along with the millions of visitors thanks you for bringing their most prized possessions and new exhibit to the zoo—the Feeling Froggy Frog Farm.

Conclusion:

Now that you have completed your webquest, you are to get the handout from the teacher.  The handout will be used to make a frog shaped book of the work you did on your Froggy Happenings Around the World webquest.  You are to color the frog and cut it out and we will attach all of your work.  All the work you have done for this webquest will be put in this book.  This includes the questions you answered, sentences that were written as well as anything else you want to add.   Also, before you are finished you need to answer the Cooperation Worksheet.  These are question about how well your group worked together.  Ask your teacher for the sheet.  Until we meet again Frog Finders!
