The Story Behind:
"Invisible Man"
This is one of my many "loneliness songs." Kinda sappy, but I can't help it. I seem to be good at writing them. This is one of my favorite songs, as far as being a complete musical piece. Once I started writing it, everything fell together perfectly.
One day, I was sitting on my balcony playing my acoustic guitar, and I decided to write a song. So I started playing around with some chords, and singing the first things that came to mind. As soon as those first words hit, I jumped up and grabbed a pen and some paper and began writing.
The first verse really came quickly. The chorus was fairly easy, too, but the second verse was a bit of a struggle. I didn't want this to be a happy love song, because I was not happy. So, I struggled to get the words I wanted.
Finally, I got the second verse, and I went to work on the bridge, which turned out to be the hardest part of the song, both musically and lyrically. When I had decided on the chord pattern for the bridge, I tried to write words that conveyed my feelings and coincided with the energy of the song at that point. Needless to say, the bridge went through several changes before it was finished.
I said that this was one of my favorite "complete musical pieces" because of the way everything seems to fit. The lyrics fit the acoustic guitar rhythm like a glove; the distorted rhythm track during the chorus brings out the harshness of the feelings brought forth there; and the sweet, clean lead guitar work brings a melodic, peaceful closure to an audibly tough issue.
I love this song!
Lyrics for:
Invisible Man
Every time
I look into those eyes
I just want to kiss you
I want to hold you closely
Feel your breath on me
It's all I want to do
But you don't know me
Can't even see I'm here
I guess my love's not getting
Through
Do I exist
In your perfect world?
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm just invisible
To you
No matter what I do
For yor affection
You don't acknowledge me
I try and I try
I break my heart for you
Just to get
You to see
But you don't know me
Can't even see I'm here
I guess my love's not getting
Through to you
Do I exist
In your perfect world?
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm just invisible
To you
When I'm around you
No matter what I do
You just don't understand
When I'm around you
No matter what I do
I feel just like
An invisible man!
But you don't know me
Can't even see I'm here
I guess my love's not getting
Through to you
Do I exist
In your perfect world?
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm just invisible
Well, you don't know me
Can't even see I'm here
I guess my love's not getting
Through to you
Do I exist
In your perfect world?
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm invisible
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm invisible
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm invisible to you
I guess I'm just invisible
I guess I'm invisible
To you
