HEB 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
In studying this verse one notices by implication that there is a separation between God and man, He that cometh to God, implies one must first come to God in order to be pleasing to him.
This was not so in the beginning.
GEN 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God blessed man beyond all our dreams in the beginning as just a casual reading of Gen 2-3 reveilles we ought to read it from time to time it is a record of Gods care of his blessing in the beginning it is also a reminder unto us that our sin can and has separated us from the love of God in the past. Thus Jude's admonition.
JUDE 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
JUDE 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
We realize this example of Gods love for man that he created was beautiful in the beginning as we see he created man in his image, and blessed him.
GEN 2:8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
The next few verses show how beautiful the land was, Adam was blessed with, first the garden of which branched out four rivers, which encompassed great lands with gold, and precious stones.
God did not leave him idle but gave him work to do God is not idle but a busy God man created in his image should be busy.
GEN 2:15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
GEN 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
GEN 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God was seeing to it that every need was met man was surrounded in beauty he was in harmony with it as he worked to keep it to dress it, To eat of it. He only had to avoid of the eating of the one tree.
He was complete and entire in his surroundings God saw that every need was met, Even to the extent of seeing the need of the sharing the blessing which God had given him, We by the nature God has given should see the need in sharing we are incomplete without it.
GEN 2:18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
GEN 2:19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
GEN 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
GEN 2:21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
GEN 2:22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
GEN 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
GEN 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
GEN 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
That is the blessing of God man created in his image, in complete harmony with his surroundings in fellowship with one another and with God as God himself walked in the garden.
GEN 3:8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:
God could have made man a simpleton with no mind to chose but God BY implication wonts to fellowship with one who by choice seeks his fellowship.
In the beginning as now one was to seek Gods fellowship. Had to come to him by faith. Of corse the circumstances are different but the principal is the same.
ROM 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Adam came to God by faith as he dressed the garden and enjoyed the blessing of God and avoided the tree in the mist of the garden to avoid the eating of it Thus the hearing of faith keep him in Gods blessing as he pleased God.
When he failed to obey God he destroyed the bond of fellowship, he denied the faith. As eve followed the teaching of the Devil and not the doctrine of God. Adam followed her together they let the love of the world come between them and the love of God, thus failed to please God.
GEN 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
GEN 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
GEN 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
GEN 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
GEN 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
GEN 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
GEN 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Because of their departure from the faith The blessing of God was taken from them. They died spiritually that day as the fellowship of God was withdrawn, the were cast from the garden and begin to die physically.
His blessing became a curse.
GEN 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
GEN 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
GEN 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
GEN 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
GEN 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
GEN 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Notice further the doctrine of the Devil in verse 4 thou shalt not surely die, only one word added to Gods the word not. Then notice verse 5 alines with verse 22 they became as Gods from the stand point knowing good and evil, shows here the word knowing goes beyond simple knowledge this knowing includes experience of doing, to this point they had only known good but through the teaching of the Devil they now know through experience evil, on this point Satan was right, but he deceived Eve by taking away from Gods word thou shalt surely die through deception of the flesh he beguiled her on this point, her sin
she saw that the tree was good for food the lust of the eyes
Was present to the eyes the lust of the eyes
desired to make one wise the pride of life
one cannot practice these things and please God.
1JN 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1JN 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Satan appealed to her lust by using truth to a degree he added to he took away changed the truth of God into a lie. this principal continues.
ROM 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
GEN 3:23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
GEN 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
We find then that man was separated from God and his blessing because he desired to please himself more than he desired to please God he departed from the faith, the gap grew wide in even to the point that man desired to thank God out of his knowledge.
ROM 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
ROM 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
ROM 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
ROM 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
ROM 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
God has no pleasure in these things man had gotten to a state to where he could not please him. Thus we must Get God back in our mind We must believe that he is, and realize that he can and will once again bless us if we come back to him. We realize that when Adam sinned lost his fellowship and could not of himself devise a way back, nether can we for we have all sinned.
1COR 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
1COR 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.
1COR 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
1COR 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1COR 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
1COR 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
As in Adam All die for we have all sinned we cannot be pleasing to God in the state of Adam as we have fell short of the faith be cannot return of our own merit but through his Grace has given us a way to walk with him once more he has given us the light to see how to return through faith in him.
ROM 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
ROM 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
ROM 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
ROM 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
ROM 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
ROM 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
ROM 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
ROM 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
ROM 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
ROM 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
ROM 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
ROM 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
ROM 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
ROM 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
EPH 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
ROM 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
ROM 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
In believing that he is we have confidence in his promises thus we come unto him by faith.
HEB 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
HEB 11:2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
By belief in God his promises the elders faith gave way to obedience to Gods will in so doing pleased God.
HEB 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
HEB 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
HEB 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
HEB 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
HEB 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
HEB 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
HEB 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
HEB 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
ROM 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
ROM 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
ACTS 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
ACTS 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
1JN 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
1JN 1:2 For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
1JN 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
1JN 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
1JN 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1JN 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1JN 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
