Buddy DeLoach was born in Liberty County and
educated in the Liberty County public schools. His classmates started his political career by electing him their senior class president at Bradwell Institute where he played football, basketball and ran track. At age ten he took his first job as a stock boy in a local grocery store. There he learned what it means to put in a full days work and to respect the value of a dollar.

- Buddy is a life long member of Hinesville First United Methodist Church and serves as an usher and trustee.
- He is a long time member of American Legion Post 168 and Society 40&8th.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in
Political Science from the University of Georgia and taught school
before serving two years in the United States Army. Buddy spent a year working with delinquent children. He has coached youth league basketball and taught Sunday school and children's church. His commitment to children and youth remains strong today.
In 1987, Buddy was elected Mayor of Hinesville and
served until January 1992. He is perhaps best known for the strong
bond that was built between Fort Stewart and the Hinesville/Liberty County community during his tenure as mayor. Always a favorite of soldiers, he spent Christmas week with Fort Stewart warfighters in Saudi Arabia in 1990 and led the welcome home celebration when they returned. The Department of the Army recognized Mayor DeLoach for his support of soldiers and their families during operation Desert Storm/ Desert Shield with the prestigious Patriotic Civilian Service award.
First elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1994, Buddy has earned a reputation for hard work and straight talk. He is widely recognized for his skills as an orator and for his knowledge of the legislative process.He serves on committees on
Appropriations, Natural Resources and Environment, and Governmental
Affairs. He chairs the Fiscal Management sub-committee of
appropriations and the elections sub-committee of Governmental Affairs. He was named by Governor Perdue to serve on the One-Georgia legislative oversight committee, by Secretary of State Cathy Cox to serve on the 21st Century Vote Commission, and by House Speaker Coleman to serve on the Advisory Board On Anatomical Gifts. Buddy has worked closely with the leadership from both political parties to pass legislation for the benefit of all Georgians.
Buddy has been married to Linda for more than thirty years.
Their son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Mary (the child they raised and
the one they got by just plain good luck), live in Athens. Buddy and
Linda both love fishing, golf, and football.
