I purchased my 1998 TJ from a friend of mine at church on April 12, 2002.  The Jeep left the factory a 1998 TJ SE, which is the 4-cylinder model (thus the reason for not having the "sport" or "4.0L" stickers).  With approx. 60,000 miles on the clock, the Jeep was stolen.  It was stripped of the interior, the motor, transmission, trans-case, and rear axle.  The Jeep was the purchased by Jeep Recycling, or Redding, CA.  Upon purchase of this Jeep, and a 2000 model that had been wrecked, they built one out of two.  The interior from the red 2000 (which is gray), along with the motor, transmission, and t-case were thrown in the '98.  The axle came from a 1999 TJ.  This drive train had approx. 14,000 on it when Jeep Recycling built it.  The good thing was that the odometer came from the same Jeep as the motor, trans, a t-case.  So my 34,500 miles I have now (August, 2002), is accurate with the major mechanicals of the Jeep.  Jeep Recycling also threw together the lift, the hard top and doors, and the interior accessories.  Rick, the previous owner, threw on the bumpers/nerfs, and the wheel/tire package.  See below for detailed specs.
