Higurashi Kagome is the quick-tempered and brave heroine in our story. She was taken back in time after being pulled into an ancient well on her family's property by a demon into Muromachi (Warring States) period. There she frees Inuyasha from his enchanted slumber and begins her quest for the Shikon no Tama shards, among other things. She learns from a village elder Kaede that she is the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyou , the very person who sealed Inuyasha in the first place!

Kagome frequently travels from her time to the feudal time during the course of the story and tries hard to keep her two lives together. Most of her time, of course, is spent in the feudal age where she slowly adapts to a life of danger, adventure, and no indoor plumming. She is very kind-hearted, but easy to anger especially when Inuyasha is the reason. However, she has the power to control Inuyasha with only one word: Osuwari! (or Sit!) because of an enchanted rosary that Kaede puts around Inuyasha's neck.

Whether or not Kagome can keep up with her two lives is yet to be seen, all though she is doing really well so far. She does love her adventures (and sometimes MISadventures) with Inuyasha and grows to care for him very deeply. A caring that slowly blossoms into love.
