Brothers of Obsidian

Memorial to Coglynn RumRunner former UnderMaster of Obsidian

Long ago did Coglynn RumRunner find the path of Obsidian. He walked the dark path of Obsidian better than any before him. Worked his way through the Hall of Novices into the Army. Exceeding in every field, quickly gaining power among the army. In many battles, it was his effort and strength that helped us pull through victorious. Coglynn RumRunner died for the cause of Obsidian, and was touched by the finger of Obsidian to destroy those whom destroyed him. Here is his tale below... May he live with our lord Obsidian for all time. For he shall live in our memory forever.

The area was quiet when Coglynn Rumrunner got into his office in the dreaded woods of Kithcor. That day had not been a good one for him, having to retreat from a scuffle with a group of rangers in South Karana. Thinking back on the event, he did the correct thing. Coming back for reenforcements was the only option if the Brothers were going to crush that band of tree huggers. As he got out a piece of parchment to write a missive to his Lord Edwrin Obsidian about the event he thought he heard sounds coming from outside the wooden cabin that he used as an office. He slowly went over to the liqure cabnet and poured himself an Elvin Wine, drinking it because he knew that the robed guards stationed outside his office could take care of almost anything. As he started to resume writing he hear a loud voice coming from outside of the door. “Come out Coglynn, we the Free Rangers of Karana call you out to battle!” Anger flashed in his eyes as the name of the Rangers guild was called. “How dare they come to this place that is so sacred to our Lord Obsidian!” Coglynn growled. As he grabbed his Glowing Wooden Crook he started for the door and unknowing to him at this time, his doom. Coglynn Rumrunner opened the door to the outside, and before him stood 20 or so rangers dressed for battle. He looked to the sides to see where the guards had gone, but he found 2 bloody bodies with so many arrows it was hard to tell they were Dark Elves. “I shall eat the marrow in your bones, followers of Karana. And when I am done with that I shall burn the great plains in the name of My Lord Obsidian!” Coglynn yelled. “Coglynn Rumrunner, we sentance you to death for the crimes against the people of all Norath. May your demise bring a new light to the world and a great warning to all who will abuse their power!” the leader of the rangers cried. Knowing that his lord would not let him fail in his own home Coglynn strode boldly out to meet the fight. As he came closer, the lead ranger drew both of his beautifully enchanted longswords, swinging them in practice for the inevitable fight. With a clash of weapons the fight had started, swinging his Crook, Coglynn deftly deflected the whirling swords of the master ranger. Without warning he felt the bite of another sword as a diffrent ranger from the side hit him. Seeing that the rangers were not going to fight honurably and try to take him out all at the same time, Coglynn centered his power and cast his Spirit Shock on the offending ranger. Knocking him back 10 feet and freeing a space in which to dodge ther blows of the treacherous rangers. Taking the initiative from the knocked back ranger Coglynn stuck him again across the head. Hearing his neck snap was proof enough that his opponent was down. Circling back to the master ranger Coglynn felt another terrible bite as both longswords of the master ranger hit him in the ribs. Feeling the blood pour out of his body and into his lungs, Coglynn knew he was going to be in trouble. Two, four, and six blows were dealt to Coglynn before he could bash his mighty club against the frail leg of the ranger taking the murderous wretch down. The next hit Coglynn did against the master ranger was the last that the ranger had seen when his head exploded from the force of the Crook against his temple. Blinded by pain and anger, not wanting defeat Coglynn cried out to Obsidian. “Lord take my essence to smite down these disbelivers in your home! Take me to destroy all offends you in your house! May the currs burn!!” And with those fatal words Obsidian broke from his prison from the nether regions of the world and touched Coglynn with His mighty power. Feeling absolute joy for being one with his god, Coglynn’s essence turned into terrible power! All of the power that Coglynn had learned to channel in his entire lifetime was brought back to him and centered on his mortal body. The pilar of fire that reached the heavens that day was seen by all in Norath, and all those that had seen the flames have seen the might of Obsidian. They have witnessed the true power of believing and the death of all that oppose Him.
As the sun went down over the horizon Edwrin Obsidian, the Black Bard of Norath, came to the wrekage that used to be Coglynn’s office. Having finally seen the news of destruction that was brought to him by his wife Daydreamer he could hardly believe that anything had been here before. He could see the destroyed cabin and the giant scorch marks for 1/2 a mile around. He had seem the burnt bodies of the rangers, or what was left of them after the eternal fires had cleansed their souls. Edwrin knelt down to one knee, feeling the power of his god and the sacrifice of his friend. “Goodbye good friend, you shall be missed.” was all he murmered to himself. Edwrin Obsidian raised himself to full height and addressed the Brothers that had gathered. “This shall be a holy spot from this day forward in honor of Coglynn, and in Glory of Obsidian! With His power we will burn the world and bring our enemy’s low!!!”

The remains of the last stand of Coglynn Rumrunner...

May Coglynn forever be a symbol of the greatness of Obsidian! And may his soul eternally roam...
