Starting a Guild

The Steps to Starting a Guild:

  • Name it
  • Decide what it's goals are
  • Set up a system of leaders ((GC, SiC, TiC, DC's))
  • Make an App
  • Get about 10 Members
  • Sign the Guild up with a Forum
  • Keep Recruiting
  • Work for the goals you previously set

Naming a Guild:

When naming your guild,
Remember, Acronyms are common,
But not required.
Name it whatever you want.
Just try to keep the name true to it's cause.

Setting Goals:

Decide what you want your guild to be.

What is the alignment?
I.E.- Light, Neutral, Dark, Holy, Lawful, Chaotic, etc.

What is the guild?
A Family? An Army? A Buisiness? Etc.

What will you stand for?
Decide what you want your guild to mainly do.
You could bring Justice,
Spread Chaos,
Just Hang-Out,
The Possabilities are ENDLESS!

Deciding Leaders:

Usually, the creator of the guild is the GC.

If more than one person created the guild,
they would be a Co-GC.

Then they set the SiC and TiC.
These are usually set by
ability, skills, and leadership qualities.

Then set the DC's.
DC's are in charge of the sub-districts of the guild.
You want to use people who
show great skill with the
division they will be commanding.

Then, sign up the members in the
divisions you deem suitable for them.

Note:
If you find someone who you think
has great potential in a certain area,
but lacks the experience,
Get them Trained!
Once they are ready, you can appoint them
where they will be most useful.

Making an App:

The common things on an app are:
  • The Guild Name
  • An explaination of the guild
  • General Questions
  • Terms/Intellegence
  • Sign-up/Oath

Common General Questions:

Name and SN?
Skills?
Description?
Other Guilds/Experience?
Who recruited you?
Why do you wish to join?

There are many questions you could ask.
Get the info that you want
before deciding if they can join your guild.

Terms:

Ask them what certain things mean.
Find out what they know about RP.

Note:
There is a list of common RP Terms
and their meanings
right here on the UoLS Site!

Sign-Up/Oath:

This is where you get the signiture of the char
Stating that they will follow the rules of the guild,
and vow their loyalty to it.

Getting Members:

You can either start a public recruiting room,
randomly mail-out apps ((But beware of being TOSed for spamming.)),
Or wonder around Rhydin announcing you are seeking members.

Once you have members,
Start hanging out in public places
as a group so others can see
your guild in action.
You will gain their interest,
and they may possably request to join.

Signing up with a Forum:

Find a forum that you like,
Remember that you will have to follow the forum rules,
so be sure you agree with their terms before applying.
Once you find the forum you wish to follow,
Fill out their guild app.
Most forums require you have at least 10 members before
they will sponsor you.

You have to be signed up with a forum for your
guild dice to be legal.
Once you are signed up with a forum,
they will assign your guild XP's
((and sometimes GP's))
for the month.

Once you have all of this accomplished,
Keep the guild going.
Keep all the members informed.
Continue to recruit.
Keep the guild SL's interesting,
so members will remain active.

Don't just be a "fly by night" guild.
Make yourselves known in Rhydin!
