Final Voyage Chapter 1 Download complete. "Finally!" I exclaimed. "OK, let's move out," ordered Pete. Joe, Pete, and I, David Wilson, were on an important mission that would help save the world, slightly, for a short time. The Maxell, the main corporation that runs the government, was developing a super weapon. This weapon sends a wave of rays that cause people's mitochondria to become hyperactive, which makes the mitochondria produce a lot of heat, causing the person to fry. We came here to the Maxell building to download a virus onto the main computer, which will erase all trace of this super weapon so it won't go into production. "Wait, I'm on the X-Branch Security Files. Hey, President Sharrah's file is on here. I'll just open it up and print it to see if I can dig up any dirt on.. WHAT THE!?" I shouted as I read the screen.. Name: Jordan Sharrah AKA: Jordan Wilson Mother: Lola Wilson Father: Christopher Wilson "They're coming, we've got to go now," Pete ordered with authority and anxiety. As I got up and left, I grabbed the printed paper and tore it off. I kept thinking, "Is the president my brother." We ran into limited trouble on the way out, and we easily got by. Right when we were exiting the building and we were about to get on our bikes-- BANG--we all turned around and saw Joe falling to the ground. Right behind him was Daniel, head of the National Organization of Presidential Security (NOPS), standing with a rifle held up and a wicked smile on his face. As Daniel was leaving Pete yelled, "JOOOOOOOOEEE!" "He's gone. C'mon, we've got to go," I said as I held him back. We finally left leaving Joe's bike behind on our way to Heidi's Bar, the number one bar in town, which is actually sort of our headquarters. This was definitely one of the most tragic days for us in a long time. Chapter 2 When we got to Heidi's Bar, the first thing we did was chase out all of the bums and drunks. Pete was able to do this because he's tall and very well built. Once we had cleared the area, I went up to the counter and said, "Hey Heidi. How's it going?" "I'm fine, but where's Joe?" she responded. "Sorry to say, but he was killed by that damn NOPS leader right as we were leaving." "You could have at least brought his body back!" she yelled furiously at the two of us, as she started to cry. "Heidi, Heidi, calm down. I know, I'm sorry, but we would have been killed too if we would have tried to get him," I said trying to calm her down. Heidi and Joe had been childhood friends, and they loved each other, but not in the way that a boyfriend and girlfriend love each other, but the way brothers and sisters love each other. I've been friends with Heidi for a long time, but not as good or as long as Joe had known Heidi. "No, No. I'm the one--sniff-- who should be sorry. I shouldn't have lashed out at you guys--sniff--It's not your fault," she said, still crying. Heidi is fairly tall for a girl, and she is a little chubby. Heidi, Joe, Pete, and I are all 19 years old. I think Heidi's quite hot, but my heart belongs to the girl smiling in the corner. Ever since I met her three years ago I have been great fiends with Kelly. She's 18, kind of short, pretty thin, and so beautiful that it hurts me to see her. She may not be a great fighter, but she has come with us on some fights and I have found out that if she has a reason, she could kick anyone's ass. This last year that I have been friends with her, I have started to fall in love with her, but I don't know how to tell her. "Hey Kelly, did you miss me?" I jokingly said. "Why, were you gone?" she responded in the same way. "Just kidding. Of course I missed you. I was getting worried that you might not come back." "Sorry, we stopped awhile to think about Joe." "Yeah, I can't believe he's dead, that's terrible. This is not a good time for something like this. Heidi's having a little bit of a money problem so she's been all worried about that, and now she just has to be devastated that Joe's gone. You know how close they were." "Wow, I didn't know she was having money problems. She's gotta be hurting." "Well to change the subject, how did the job go?" We are all part of a company, if that's what you'd like to call it. Pete, Joe (well obviously he's not a part of it anymore), and I get paid by people we don't know to do stuff for them. The stuff usually has to do with conspiracies and crooks and criminals. You could call us mercenaries. "It really wasn't a job it was something we had to do. As soon as we found out about this super weapon, we knew we had to do something about it." "Ahem, you didn't answer my question. How did it go?" "Oh yeah, sorry. Well besides the fact that we lost Joe it went good. We got there, broke inside, downloaded the virus, and. "Hey you two love birds. Get over here, you guys got another job while you were gone," Heidi said interrupting me. She does that to me all the time, especially when I'm talking with Kelly. I think she knows how I feel about Kelly. After that comment we both gave Heidi disgusted looks. As we walked over to Pete and Heidi, I could see out of the corner of my eye that Kelly had a smile on her face. Chapter 3 "So what's our new job?" I inquired. "I'm not really sure. All's we got was an address, a time, and something that said `Come here for job involving super weapon.' If it involves that damn super weapon we have to check it out." Stewart acted just like a drill sergeant when he explained that. "OK. Gotcha," I said sarcastically. I could tell that annoyed him. "But what if we." "Hey guys, I have something to say." I can't believe she just did that. Heidi interrupted me again. "There's something that I've really been thinking about, and I'm just gonna come out and say it. I'm coming with you guys." "Coming with us where?" I asked even though I knew the answer. "To the job." "What? No, we can't risk losing another person," I demanded. "So are you saying I don't know how to defend myself." "No, not at all. I'm saying that I don't think you know what you're getting yourself into and I don't think you're ready. Besides, you need to watch the bar." I was just trying to come up with every excuse I could. "The bar? The best excuse you can come up with is the bar?" She said as she shook her head. "And I just had my best friend die, so I think I know what I'm getting myself into." I don't even know why I try. Once she has her mind on something it's not gonna be changed. "Hey, Pete. A little help here," I said hoping he will have something up his sleeve because I'm really worried about her coming along. "Well, maybe she should come along today." Boy was I surprised by that. "You guys don't seem to understand. I want to take Joe's place. I want to come to all the jobs. I want to join the business and there's nothing you can do about it." "Well David. Looks like we're just gonna have to accept it." "I guess," I can't believe I'm actually letting her join. "I'll watch the bar," Since I had all of my focus on Heidi I had forgotten that Kelly was even there. "Sure. I'd be happy to let you watch my bar. I hope you don't miss having me as company." "Oh, I'll get by." "Hold on a second. You think I'm gonna let you work the bar all by yourself?" I may not have been able to stop Heidi, but I know I can win this one. "That's what I was hoping." "Well. Too bad." "Then what are you gonna do, bring me along on the mission?" "No, I'll get someone to stay with you." "Like who?" "I don't know," I said. Then after a short pause I blurted out, "How about Sam?" "Whatever." I don't think she likes the way I'm treating her right now but I can't let her stay here alone, all by herself. "Pete, where is the walkie-talkie?" I asked as I scavenged around the bar for it. "I have no idea." I could see he was going to be no help. He isn't even helping me find it. When I looked at him to give him a glare I noticed something different. He had a smile on his face, which rarely happens. In fact everybody had a smile on their face. I had no idea what was going on? I was also a little bit scared. Then I saw it out of the corner of my eye. The thing that made me realize what was going on. It's.It's. Chapter 4 It's the walkie-talkie. I can't believe I was that dumb. They weren't smiling at me; they were laughing because the walkie-talkie was sitting on the bar counter where anybody could see it. They must really think I'm dumb. As I walked to the counter the only thing I could say was, "Don't even say a word," and even that I mumbled. I didn't even bother looking at any of their faces for fear of being laughed at even more. When I reached the counter I slammed my hand down on the walkie-talkie as if I were trying to catch a fly. Then I very angrily brought it up to my head. "Hey Sam, are you there?" No answer. "Sam, if you're there get the damn walkie-talkie. It's me, David." Still no answer. "He must not be there," I said to the group. "I'm here, don't worry," came Sam's response. "Where were ya?" "Couldn't find the walkie-talkie. My place is such a mess." "Yeah right, you were probably on the can." "Maybe, maybe not. So what do you want?" "I was just wondering if you could come over here for a little while to watch the bar." "Can't you find anybody else to watch it? I'm not really in the mood for it." "Well, Kelly's gonna be watching it, but I don't want to leave her here alone. I just don't think she'll be safe. I'd leave her with Heidi, but she'll be with us." "Oh, well if you really need me I'll be right over, and I'll bring over some new gadgets I made." "Good, then you better get over here soon." "OK, but it might take a little while to load the truck." "See ya soon." Sam lives fairly close to the bar so it shouldn't take him very long to get her, but he's probably gonna drive that old truck of his so it will take him awhile to start it. To pass the time I decided to sit and talk to Pete for awhile. We weren't really talking about anything in particular, just whatever we could think of. I didn't want to talk to Kelly because I was afraid that she was still mad at me and I didn't want to aggravate her anymore. "Hey guys," Sam said as he came barging into the bar. "Don't you think it would have been a little bit nicer if you would have knocked first?" I said sarcastically. "Would it please you if I went back outside and knocked?" "Yes, it would." "Well too bad, cause I'm not gonna." "Ha, ha, very funny. So what are these `new gadgets' you were talking about?" "Oh, well I left them out in the truck. You have to go see them, I made some kick ass new gadgets." At this point I didn't know what to expect from him, although, I never knew what to expect from this weirdo. I really hope he brought some knew weapons because we really need them. As we walked outside I was kind of excited about what he might have brought, and it looked like Pete was too. When we reached the truck, Sam jumped over the tailgate right into the truck in a very graceful motion. He ducked down to pick something up and when he came back up he had the most intimidating gun I have ever seen in my life. It's not the biggest gun I've ever seen, but it's made all of gold except for part of the casing around the handles, which are colored black. That has to be the finest cut gold I have ever seen because it looks smooth and extremely shiny. If I ever had that thing pointed at me I would probably pee my pants. "That thing is SWEET," I commented. "Is that gold?" Pete inquired. "I wish. First of all that would be too expensive; second of all it would be extremely heavy. It's a strong metal that's been died gold, but it looks cool doesn't it?" "Hell yeah!!" I guess I was wrong, it isn't gold. "So that gun is for me, right?" Pete asked anxiously. "You guys haven't even seen the best part of the gun," Sam said trying to cover up the fact that he didn't answer the question. "I'll take that as a no." "Sorry big guy. I'm the only who knows how to use it and I put a lot of effort into making this thing," Pete said with a bit of fear, although he didn't really have a reason to fear anybody because he was the one holding that gun. "As I was saying. Did you happen to notice that there are two handles on this thing? And don't you think that that is a little weird for a shotgun? Well if I hit this little button right here," he said while flexing his thumb, "and pull down on the other handle. Look, a separate little handgun appears." I guess he was trying to sound surprised. Wow, that handgun looks almost as good as the other one, but there's just something less intimidating about a handgun. "That's craptacular!!" I said jokingly. "Oh, and the other thing-well actually things-that I brought are these three nifty earpieces." "So what do they do?" Pete asked. "Well, actually they're basically an easier way of communicating than the old fashion walkie-talkies. See, you put this little earpiece in your ear like this, and the other part wraps around your ear like this." "So it's a hearing aid," I said. "Well it looks like one but it's a lot more advanced. When you want to talk you have to press on your ear." he said while doing the motion. "You are going to be listening at all times, but you will only hear something if someone is pressing on their ear and talking. It's really a nifty device." "I'm sure it is." "Well I only have three, so I think that you guys should take all three cause I doubt that we'll need to be talking to you guys at all," Sam said as he handed Pete, Heidi, and I our earpieces. Heidi and Kelly had been standing over by the door the whole time. They must not care too much about any of this new stuff. I guess it's probably cause they're girls. "Thanks man, these are cool. I bet they'll really come in handy," I seriously commented. Chapter 5 As we arrived at the address, we all looked up and saw a big, abandoned warehouse (how original). It had broken windows-probably from rocks thrown by little kids-and one big sliding door. I was walking towards the door when Heidi yelled, "Yo, dummy. There's an open door over there." "Maybe she'll have some use after all," Pete said sarcastically. I didn't dare laugh at that remark. With the look she gave him, I'm honestly surprised that he's still alive. As we walked toward the open door, I was very wary of what might happen next so I whipped out my sword. We all had our own different fighting styles, and mine just happened to be with a sword. Nothing compares to the control you get having a steel blade in your hand. But a sword won't do you any good if you can't get to a person that's where my extreme quickness comes in. I have trained a long time to become a master swordsman, but I had to give it up to pursue the work that I am currently involved in. I have always thought that even in the hands of the most well trained soldier, there are still so many mechanical errors that could happen with a gun. I would never trust myself with one of those. On the other hand, Pete loves his gun. It may not be very big, but it sure as hell packs a punch. He never lets that thing leave his side, but that's because it's the very same gun that his dad held when he died. Heidi is the oddball of the group. She prefers to not use a weapon; hand to hand combat is her way. As a kid she was taught by a local man how to fight, he needed someone to pass his skills onto and she just happened to be the one. Actually he once told me, "I can see the flare in her eyes, she will be a great fighter soon, even better than I could ever be." This style suits her very well, because when she's in the middle of a fight she can really let out her aggression, but sometimes she gets carried away. We entered the door ready to fight, but we were soon disappointed. The building was just as empty inside as it looked from the outside. We know this is the right place, so we just kept on walking to the middle of the emptiness. None of us were sure what was gonna happen next. The only thing we knew was that we were supposed to show up here at this time. When we hit the middle we all stopped, and formed sort of a circle facing outwards. We were all watching each others back. "Maybe we should split up," I suggested. "What exactly do you think we would find if we split up. If were suppose to meet someone here, they'll find us if they need us that bad." Shot down. Pete fully rejected my idea, but now that I think about it, he's right. Clunk. What was that? Did I just hear something....no, it couldn't have been anything..it's just an empty building. I looked around at Pete and Heidi, but neither of them seemed to have noticed. It must not have been anything. Heidi decided to break the silence. "Are we just gonna stand here or are we gonna get this job. I don't know how much longer I can wait." I guess she just doesn't have the same patience that we all have. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm sitting down." There just happen to be a crate pile in the middle of the floor. Not exactly the most comfortable place to sit, but I thought "What the heck! It may not be that comfortable but it's better than the floor." As I sat down I thought I heard laughter coming from the same area as the noise I heard earlier. This got me really worried. I looked at the other guys again, but still no reaction. I decided to mention something this time. "Did anyone hear that?" "Hear what?" They both responded almost simultaneously. "That noise..I thought I just heard something..it sounded like someone laughing." "What are you talking about?" Heidi said looking at me like I was in a crazy house. Just then a big spotlight was turned on. We got up into our fighting stances, but we were blinded by the light. We must have looked pretty stupid, all of us standing there with our hands over our eyes, squinting, trying to see what was going on. The I heard it again, that same stupid laugh, but this time I saw where it was coming from. This time everyone else heard it, and they were all looking at the same man I was. "YOU'VE GOT A LOTTA FUCKING GUTS SHOWING YOUR FACE AROUND US." At that moment I was afraid that Pete might have gone a little too far with that comment. "Settle down Pete," I said softly, "Daniel, what are you doing here and what do you want with us this time," I yelled this time. "You already killed one of us and that's all the satisfaction you're gonna get. To Be Continued.......
