I'm sorry, but I really think Konami sucks. Everyone says Square and Rare and Nintendo are overrated, but I really think Konami is the most overrated company there is. Alot of the games I've played I think really suck. Where do I even begin?
Metal Gear & Snake's Revenge: I thought both of these games were HORRIBLE! The hardest part in Metal Gear is right near the damn beginning where you have to cross the path past those guards and dogs. After that, the game is much easier, except for some really cheap parts like the mazes and the pitfalls. The only thing amusing about this game is the f*cked-up dialogue! Snake's Revenge was even worse. I gave up on those damn sidescrolling areas.
Castlevania series: I'm sorry, but I don't get what's so great about this series? I've played 1, 2, 3, and 4, and the only one I thought was even mildly amusing was 4. Part 1 was boring. Part 2 was horrible (I couldn't figure out what the heck to do without looking at Nintendo Power), part 3 was okay, I guess, but once I beat it, I never played through it again. Part 4 was okay, but was rather short.
What amazes me about this, is that the two non-RPG games that everyone says the PSX is worth getting for are Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania: SoTN. Do you realize how much that worries me about getting a PSX? Now, I've heard people say SoTN is the best game, ever, and maybe I would like it. I don't know, I haven't played it. But since it's a Castlevania game, I may end up liking it more than the others, but there's just no way I could ever possibly think it is the best game ever. I don't even want to go into Metal Gear Solid.
Contra & Super C: Okay, I guess these games are allright. It's just that sidescrolling, Rambo-type shooters aren't exactly my thing. But I absolutely hated Contra 3. The play control didn't seem as good as Contra and Super C, and those spinning overhead areas did absolutely nothing for me. Running around shooting hatches didn't even seem appropriate in a Contra game. And I've heard about how bad the PSX Contras are.
Gradius and LifeForce: I don't even wanna tell you how much I hate these games. They both have really sluggish play control, and I think that responsive control is very important in a space shooter.
....and Kiera wonders why they turn out crap like Survival Kids. Doesn't surprise me at all. And what else are they doing? Jumping on the bandwagon with the arcade "classics" releases. Speaking of which...I realize everyone is entitled to their opinions, but sometimes I get a little sick of people acting like the 80's arcade games are the best games of all time! I am sorry, but this is where some people are taking the "Nostalgia gaming" ideals way too far. There is absolutely nothing fun about repeating the same action over and over and over and over again!! And I don't care about the challenge, if a game isn't fun, I ain't playin' it!! Pulling my own teeth would be challenging, but it doesn't mean I want to do it!
IMO, the only good thing Konami has going for them is Goemon. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja and Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon are the only games I've ever played from Konami that I thought were any good. I might just get Goemon's Great Adventure, because of how much I like the first two.
Feel free to argue with this, counter it, debate it, insult it or me, flame me, etc. I don't care anymore. I'm tired of being cute little FO who never disagrees and everyone loves. I wanna be ThE EvIl ThAt Is FO! The one everyone loved to HaTe!!!
