Star Ocean: The Second Story
One of the most fun and enjoyable RPGs out there, Star Ocean
has an excellent battle system, ALL real time, which makes it a bit
more challenging, but in and of iteself it is already a VERY challenging
game with long dungeons and lots of item experimentation. The game itself
has 80 possible endings, with every thing you say and every move you make
contributing to what the final ending will be. There is virtually no story
in this game, and what is in it, is crap. The music is okay, and fairly
enjoyable. The best part is the gameplay. There is a HUGE number of items
and weapons in this game, its ridiculous. Something like 1000+, each one
having its own little animation, which is a very nice touch. You can play
the game as either Claude or Rena, the two main characters, and in addition
to this, there are many different characters. With certain characters though,
you can only get one or the other one, and not both. One very cool feature
of the game is the ability to create items and weapons out of other items
and materials using special skills. This adds alot of depth to the game.
Not to mention the 45+ hours of gameplay, and priced at only $19.99 at
most stores at the MAX (some selling it for $14.99), this game is definitely
worth it.
