Gameboy Codes
Pokemon Pinball
Animated Pokémon
To animate Pokémon, go to the Pokédex and highlight one of the standard (or un-evolved) Pokémon. Then hold the Start button and watch it move!
Note: This only works for the Game Boy Color system.
Catch Pokémon Easily
To catch Pokémon easily, hit a Shledder or Voltorb when their shadow appears, then hold A or B to capture it!
Diglett Bonus Stage
To access the Diglett Stage easily, simply knock out the Digletts and let the Poké Ball roll along an already open flipper - then bat it with the other one!
Double your Prizes
To "double your prizes" simply do this. When you get the CAVE bonus DO NOT GO INTO THE HOLE! Light up the letters C A V E again. Now when you go into the "cave" you will get double the prizes! (e.g. When you get the ball saver bonus it's 60 sec. instead of 30 sec.) I did this trick about 4 times and it easily got me 1st place on the score board! Especially when I got the BIG bonus! Woah!!
Easier Way to get the CAVE Bonus
The hard way to get the CAVE bonus is this: Light up all four letters C A V E located at the bottom of the screen to open a hole in the middle of the board. The easy way is this: 1st Charge up Pikachu's kickback by doing a loop-de-loop around the outside of the board. It should hit a spinner which will cause it to spin, charging Pikach up. Then when the ball falls down to the bottom of the screen and bumps Pikachu. He will do a Pikachu kickback. At this time flip the flippers so that the blank spot is over Pikachu's head. You have to be quick so that the ball will go through the blank spot.
Easy Points
There are several ways of snagging millions of points in Pokémon Pinball! One way is to upgrade the Poké Ball to a Master Ball (by lighting up Evo lights) and then hitting the targets.
Another way is to choose a captured (and evolved) Pokémon, strip it of all of its items and experience, then whack the ball into the hole!
Evolving Pokemon
Red Field: Shoot the pokeball through the left outside loop. Each time you pass through the loop, one evolution arrow will light up. When all three arrows are lit up, shoot the ball into the Evolution cave. Then choose the pokemon you want to evolve.
For example, if you choose shellder, make the pokeball hit all three Water Stones then shoot the ball into the hole in the middle of the field.
Blue Field: Shoot the pokeball through the left loop. Each time the pokeball passes through the loop one evolution arrow will light up. When all three arrows are lit up shoot your ball into SLOWPOKE'S mouth. Then choose the pokemon you want to evolve.
For example, if you choose pikachu make the pokeball hit all three Thunder Stones then shoot the ball in the hole in the middle of the field.
Extra Poké Balls
To get additional Poké Balls, you must get a “CAVE” bonus. Thereafter, every 20th time the letters are lit, you will receive an additional ball!
Find the Rare Zapdos
To get Zapdos, the legendary bird of thunder, go to Lavendar Town on the Red game board. Make sure all of the arrows to the right loop are lit up and none are blinking(to light them up, shoot the pokeball through the right loop). Now, shoot into Bellsprout's mouth and there is a good chance that you will find a Zapdos.
Getting Great, Ultra, and Master Balls
To get a Great, Ultra, or a Master ball you must light up the three lights at the top of either table. You do this by touching the little rectangles directly under the lights, and the lights can be moved with the A button, so you can go through the same rectangle and still go from a great ball to an ultra ball to a Master ball.
Getting Stones and Experience in the Evolution Stage Easier
To get stones and experience easier, just simply let you ball go down the drain if you have your saver on and let the ball when it shoots it back up, get the stone or experience for you.
How to Catch Venonat
To catch Venonat, go to Fushia City on the blue table and enter Catch'em Mode.
How to Catch Dragonair
To capture Dragonair, you'll first need to go to Saffron City and capture Evee. (Try and make her evolve three times.) Next, go to Cloyster and snag a pokémon. That pokémon will become Dragonar!
How to Catch Mew
After playing the MewTwo bonus stage three times, try to go to the Indigo Plateau. Mew will appear there, but although you can see him you still have to attack him over 50 times before he is captured.
Illuminate CAVE Lights Easily
The easiest way to illuminate CAVE lights is to rapidly tap the “Up-Tilt” button as the Poké Ball travels underneath the triangular-shaped bouncers. This will move lit CAVE lights out of the path of the ball, while putting unlit ones in their place.
Note: On the Red Table, when the Poké Ball is being launched, it helps to hold the right flipper up.
Mewtwo Bonus Stage
To get the Mewtwo bonus stage, play both bonus stages per table (ie Seel and Meowth stages on the blue table, Gengar and Diglett on red.) The next bonus stage will be Mewtwo's stage.
Moving Pokémon in the Pokédex
To get the moving Pokémon in the Pokédex select to an unevolved Pokémon or basic Pokémon then press start. Then you can see the Pokémon move. This only works for basic Pokémon.
Pokedex Counter
Go to your Pokedex and press SELECT. This will show you how many pokemon you have and how many you've seen. (The ones you have seen in your pokedex are shadows.)
Predict which way the arrow is pointing in Blue Field
If you want to find out which way the arrow is pointing in Blue Field(into Cloyster's mouth, Slowpoke's mouth, up, or down) then look at the 3 arrows underneath the pathway to the top of the board. If the arrow pointing to the left is lit, it will soon point to Slowpoke. If the arrow to the right is blinking, it will soon point to Cloyster. If the middle arrow is lit, it is either pointing up or down.
Hint: if you want to make sure that it will go into Slowpoke's/Cloyster's mouth, light all the arrows on either side by putting it through the loop.
Red Field Evolution
Having trouble hitting the ball up the outer left loop 4 times? Try this trick: Whenever the ball is initially released into the field(when a new ball is sent or your ball is saved), the ball will bounce up near the edge of the right flipper. While the ball is in limbo, shake the field left(Down on the D-Pad) 4 times; once while the ball is rising, once at the peak, and twice on the way down. Hit the ball with the right flipper as soon as it is in range(the tip of the flipper will strike the ball), and it will always go up the outer left loop. Finally, there's a use for the Ball Saver on the slots!
Another useful method is to stop the ball and hold it with the left flipper up. While the ball is still, it will spin counter-clockwise. Now, release and immediately hit the left flipper; the ball should roll a pixel or two down the flipper before shooting straight up the Evolution Lane. The timing is difficult, but with practice these two tricks will allow you to evolve pokemon at your leisure.
Revive Tired Pokémon
While in the Evolution mode, your pokémon may become "tired". To revive them, just hit the ball through one of the loops!

You must get the menu and select a pokemon that has a star.
Go through the whole evoultion process.
After you "evolve" the pokemon you will get a special evoulution bonus worth 10,000,000.
Special Stages
In order to get a special stage you have to catch three pokemon in one place.
For example: If you catch Pikachu, Pidgey, and another Pidgey in Viridian forest, without getting a "game over", or switching to somewhere then back again, a hole will appear saying "Go To BONUS". Go in and you will be in the stage.
The Red field Bonus Stage is Diglett's Cave and the Blue field Bonus Stage is Meowth's House.

Pokemon Puzzle Challenge
Disable Combo Pauses
After you turn on the game, watch Pikachu. The moment Pikachu smiles, enter the following code: Left, A Button, B Button, Up. If you enter the code correctly, you should hear a confirmation sound.
This code will disable the combo pauses that freeze the blocks whenever you do a Combo or a Skill Chain. I will make the game much more challenging.
Increase Maximum Speed
To change the maximum speed level from 50 to 99 in Marathon Mode, enter the following code right when Pikachu smiles (after you turn on the game): B Button, A Button, Left, Left. If you enter the code correctly, you should hear a confirmation sound
Pokemon Trading Card Game
Free Booster Packs
Go to a computer in one of the gyms. Find the menu that has japanese writing and then numbers next to each one. If you click on any of those items. You get a booster pack every time!
Get A Promo Lv.9 Slowpoke
Take 59 of your ENERGY cards and 1 basic pokemon and make a deck with them. Select the deck as your dueling deck. Then go talk to the boy in the Fire Club. He will ask you to give him all your unused ENERGY cards. Tell him Yes. If you tell him No, he will go away and not come back. Then you can't get the Slowpoke.
Infinite Energy Cards
If you are low on energy cards and need more, go back to Dr. Ooyama's lab. There fight Mikasa (The man you fought in the beginning)and fight him again, again, etc. getting 2 boosters full of energy cards each time! Now you don't have to worry about if you don't have enough energy or not!
Pokemon Yellow
Celadon City Slot Tip
All of the slot machines have different odds, which change every time. Play each machine 4 times, and if it hits 2 or more, then stick with that one, because it's probably hot.
If the slow machine forces you really close to a 777 or Bar Bar Bar it will probably give you one or the other soon.
Cheap Potions
When you reach Celadon City, go to the top (6th) floor of the Poke Mart and press A next to the machines and chose Lemonade. Lemonade replenishes 80 HP on a Pokemon, and it only costs 350 -- which is a lot less than Hyper Potion.
Clone Pokemon
Note: This trick requires another Game Boy and Pokemon game.
Trade the Pokemon to be cloned, and have the other player get a Pokemon that he or she does not care about. Trade them, and make sure the player receiving the bad Pokemon can see the other player's screen. When the Game Boy that receives the good Pokemon's displays "Waiting", get ready to shut the other Game Boy off. When the "Waiting" message disappears, turn off the Game Boy that is receiving the bad Pokemon. When the "Trade completed" message appears, turn off the remaining Game Boy. Both games will have the same good Pokemon when they are turned back on.
Note: Do not attempt this trick with any saved games you wish to keep, as it can corrupt those files if done incorrectly.
Cut Down Grassy Areas
Once you get the HM "cut", your pokemon can cut down grassy areas. Use "cut" and it will cut a two by two area. Wild Pokemon will not attack you in the area you cut.
Easy Catch
When you are catching a pokemon. through the pokeball and press B and down at the same time(2 times),then press down untell you have your pokemon.
Easy Level Gain
To easily gain experience, simply switch the Pokémon you want to train with the top Pokémon on your list. When you go into battle the Pokémon will pop out. You can then switch to another Pokémon. Once you win the battle the beginning Pokémon and the fighting Pokémon will both gain experience points.
Extra Damage
While fighting, select your desired attack. When it says you are going to use that attack (eg. "Venusaur used Razor Leaf"), hold down the A button until your opponent's life stops draining. If your timing was right you'll do more damage than usual.
Get Bulbasaur
To get Bulbasaur beat misty, nugget bridge and get to bill`s house. Defeat the rocket and get Dig. Go back to the house and she will give you Bulbasaur!
Get Amnesia Psyduck
Have you ever wondered how you can get the elusive Amnesia technique? Well, it's hidden deep in Pokemon Stadium for the Nintendo 64. Unlocking it will take a while, but it's definitely worth it. You have to register ALL 151 Pokemon in the Hall of Fame. Whenever you beat a tournament (or Gym Leader Castle), your six Pokemon are entered into the Hall of Fame. It doesn't matter whether you use rental Pokemon or your own, but you can't have any gaps. Once you've filled it all up, you are awarded a free Psyduck bonus Pokemon that knows the Amnesia technique. You can now upload it to your Game Boy pak and use it in your quest.
Get Charmander
Go to Cerulean city and beat the five trainers on the bridge going north, then go in to the first square walk away and then talk to the guy in it, he will give you Charmander.
Get Mewtwo
You can only get Mewtwo after you have beaten the game. First go to Cerulean City and go past the five trainers. Take a left and you are in a grassy area. Then continue down the water (you need Surf to get in the water) until you see land. Get on that land and enter the dungeon (if you haven't finished the game, a guy will be blocking the entrance). Work yourself through the dungeon until you're on the bottom floor. You will see Mewtwo. Use your Master Ball to catch it.
Get Raichu
To get Raichu, trade the Pikachu you started with to a Red/Blue version after It gets to be about Lv. 50-60. Then use a Thunderstone on the Pikachu you traded. After it evolves, trade it back to Pokemon Yellow. Now you will have Raichu. Be careful, though. Pikachu will no longer follow you around if you do this. You may be much better off just trading a Pikachu caught in Red/Blue and evolving that one.
Get Squirtle
To get Squirtle first you must beat Lt. Surge. Then go talk to officer jenny in the middle of the city and she will give you Squirtle.
Get Surfing Pikachu
Did you ever notice the small house at the northern beach of Route 19 that wasn't in Pokémon Blue and Red? This hut is home to the infamous "Surfing Pikachu" mini-game. Here's the deal: if your Pikachu knows Surf, you can play the mini-game Pikachu's Beach right here. The only problem is that Pikachu can't learn Surf... Well, at least not in Pokémon Yellow. Here's how you get Surfing Pikachu (outside of winning a Nintendo Pokemon contest):
Surfing Pikachu is hidden in Pokémon Stadium for the Nintendo 64. To teach your Pikachu Surf (a technique it can normally not learn), you need to first unlock the R-2 (Round 2) mode. Then do the following:
Enter the R-2 Prime Cup's Master Ball division (you have to beat the first three divisions first).
Assemble a team that contains a Pikachu that does not yet know Surf. You HAVE to use a Pikachu from your Game Boy game. You cannot unlock Surfing Pikachu using a Rental Pokémon.
Do not register your team! Pick it directly from your Game Boy cartridge.
You now have to beat the Prime Cup's Master Ball division using a three-Pokémon team that always contains Pikachu. Pikachu has to be in every one of the eight battles.
You are not allowed to use any continues. If you do, you won't get Surfing Pikachu.
Once you have fulfilled all the above conditions, you are shown an award screen with Pikachu standing on a surfboard. From here on, Pikachu can use the Surf technique both in battle and during gameplay (Game Boy versions only). In Pokémon Yellow, you can now also access the hidden Surfing Pikachu mini-game. Simply go to the small hut on the northern beach of Route 19 and talk to the guy inside.
There is also a GameShark code that lets you access Surfing Pikachu, but we advise against using it, since it can mess up your Pokédex and save data. It's not worth the trouble.
Get the Mimic TM
Buy a Pokedoll in Celadon Mart, then FLY to Saffron and talk to the Copycat. She will give you the Mimic TM.
How to get two HMs in Fuchsia City
If you are stumped on where to get the "Surf" HM, Here's what you do. It's in Area 3 of the Safari Zone. You will have to get there fast as well. (I used a bike, I suggest you use it if you have it.) If you get into the secret hideaway in area 3, the man will give you the "Surf" HM. The gold teeth item is also in Area 3. Give the gold teeth to the owner of the Safari zone and he will give you the "Strength" HM. Use that to move the boulder and claim the item in the owners house.
Only Way to Get Mew
We've seen so many fake Mew codes pop up on the web (and we get about 20 new fake Mew code submissions A DAY) that we've decided to add this following disclaimer to our codes section:
According to Nintendo, Mew cannot be found or caught in Pokemon Yellow, Red, or Blue. Outside of a GameShark code (which may mess up your Pokedex and render the game incompatible with Pokemon Stadium), the #151st Pokemon remains a cool litte extra that is only handed out by Nintendo on special occasions, such as Mall Tours or Pokemon events.
However, all those who want to catch a glimpse of the rare Pokemon can select Mew as a rental Pokemon in Pokemon Stadium for Nintendo 64 (but you cannot upload it to your Game Boy game). Note that Mew is just that -- a bonus Pokemon (albeit a very cool one that can learn all TMs) -- and not technically required to complete your Pokedex.
Secret Coins
At the Game Corner there are secret coins lying around. You can get these coins by walking around and pressing the A button.
Pokemon Blue/Red-
Celadon City Slot Tip
All of the slot machines have different odds, which change every time. Play each machine 4 times, and if it hits 2 or more, then stick with that one, because it's probably hot.
If the slow machine forces you really close to a 777 or Bar Bar Bar it will probably give you one or the other soon.
Clone Pokemon
Note: This trick requires a nother Game Boy, link cable and Pokemon game.
Trade the Pokemon to be cloned, and have the other player select a Pokemon that he or she does not care about.
Duplicate Items
To get 99 of any item, first put the item you want to multiply in the sixth item slot. Now use FLY and go to Viridian City. Talk to the old man almost all the way north of the town. When he asks if you are in a hurry, say no and watch him catch a weedle.
Right after that, fly to Fuchsia city. Make your way south and, when you you reach the water's edge, use SURF and make your way to Seafoam island.
When you get to seafoam island, swim up and down the beach until you run into a Pokemon called "M" (Missingno.) Once you see him, kill him or run away. DO NOT CATCH HIM! After that, you should have multiple copies of your sixth item!
Fight Land Creatures in Water
To fight creatures that normally live on land in water, go to the water around Cinnabar Island or Seafoam Islands (The only place you can be randomly attacked while swimming.) Swim along the shore of any island and you will fight land creatures. (You have to swim on a place where the square is half land and half water.)
Instead of fighting a set group of monsters in the water, you actually fight monsters from the last place you were. So to get safari zone monsters, you need to go to the section of the safari zone with that monster, let your time run out, then go to the coast. Using this trick I have caught Kangaskhan, Scyther, and Tauros!
Get the Mimic TM
Buy a Pokedoll in Celadon Mart, then FLY to Saffron and talk to the Copycat. She will give you the Mimic TM.
Level 100+ Pokemon
Follow these instructions to catch pokemon with really high levels.
Talk to the old man in Viridian City who shows you how to catch pokemon.
Fly directly to Cinnabar Island.
Put your strongest pokemon on your team.
You might want to save now.
Surf on the shore where the land touches water.
Keep Surfing until you run into one of these strong pokemon.
These pokemon are well above level 100. Unfortunately, they will revert back to Level 100 if they gain any experience points. Rare Candy is the only thing that raises their level. They can be used in a two-player battle without losing their level, so have fun liquidating your friends!
NOTE: This is a bug in the game. It will not work in newer versions of Pokemon and may crash your game if you try it.

Surf down by the Ancient Ruins (below Kickyou City) and solve the puzzle there. The puzzles should be somewhat easy. Just put in the corner pieces first. Then, go to the Connection Cave.
