It was a normal day.

Or at least it was supossed to be. I woke up at six o'clock, like very school day. After I brushed my teeth and put a baseball hat on my head because I had no time to arrange the mess my hair was after waking up; I drove to my college to take that day´s classes. Luckily it was Monday, and I got out early. So, without nothing to do, I decided to pay a visit to the comic´s store near my house.

It was more of a local with some superhero drawings on the wall, and some comics in a stand. But I always bought one or two to support them. There were always one or two guys who seemed to live there, since all they did was play in the Dreamcast all the day, and exchange impressions on many comic-related themes. Having nothing to do, I walked back to my home to read the comics I just bought, unsure on what to do that afternoon. I was thinking on going to see a movie, while I walked past the football stadium's empty car lot, seeing how the street vendors were arranging their mercancies on the floor in the nearby blocks. There were the usual: shirts, balls, flags in various sizes, horns and keychains, all with the local football team logo on them. And for the visitor fan, there were also some things with the visitor team's logo. As I followed the pavement round the stadium, and I got away from the vendor's offerings, it struck me.

Even now I can't describe it. It was like being hit by a truck at 70 miles per hour, with the same degree of surprise. The air around me felt charged with electricity, and I stood frozen, unable to move. Then a spasm went through my body, like a lightning hitting me. I think I tried to yell, but no one was passing at the street at that time, and my lips wouldn´t open. I felt like any moment I would explode, some force filling my body, and pressing it to the limit. My eyes opened all they could, and just when I thought I would die there, it stopped.

I just wanted to lay down and wait until my body was ready to walk me home.

"You will be a good champion." a feminine voice said in my head. It sounded like it was old enough to have witnessed the beginning of time itself, but strong enough to command respect.

"Champion...? What´re you... talking about...?" I gasped.

"Of course, it would be foolish to send just one of you against him. Even with the power I gave you, it would not be enough to stop him. But you will find the others." the Voice said.

"Him...? Others...? Who are you...?"

"You will know in time. Right now, all you need to know is that you have been born again. To protect this world from devastation, and to maintain Creation as we all know it. And since is your second birth, is only fitting you have a new name. From now on, your name will be... Kal."

"Kal...?"

"My other half will soon come. I have given you Power. He will give Knowledge to you all, when you are reunited. Until then, watch your steps carefully." The Voice then went away.

As I came back to my senses, I quickly looked all around me. No one had seen it, and there was no explanation for that voice... No, that Voice. And I felt... different. Like everything was new, and my eyes had opened for the very first time to a world of possibilities.

"I´ve finally become crazy. Or maybe it was just an hallucination" I said, as I bend over to pick up the bag that had my comics in it.

A small lightning then came out of my hand, and pulverized the bag. I quickly stepped back, impressed for what I had seen. The sky was clear, and there was no explanation for that lightning. A small black spot in the pavement convinced me it was no hallucination. The lightning had come out of my hand.

I decide to do another test, just to prove myself it was just all a daydream. I pointed my open hand to where a garbage bag was, concentrating. A ligthning bolt considerably bigger then came out of nowhere, and the bag exploded. As I was standing there, looking how the pieces of burned food and paper and God knows what else falled around me, and the people came out of their houses to see what the hell had caused that noise, I said a word that resumed everything that had happened until then.

"Cool".
