There was a churning.
Churning? What was churning?
The light was distorted, green and eerie.
Light? What light?

Where am I?
I was-
Wake up, Duo.
What?
Wake Up!

I woke up in a warm sweat. It was only three in the morning. God, I hated that dream.

I had been having the same dream. In the dream, a mythril broad sword named Navitas had fallen from the sky in a flash of lightning. Somehow, I knew this sword would change my life forever.

I pulled on my clothes and walked outside. I was worried about my friend, Matt. He had been gone for almost three months now. He had just disappeared. His parents had found his backpack and his books when they had gotten home, but they couldn't find him. They had told me that some federal agents had taken the case. One question ran through my mind during all of this, however. Why were Feds involved in this?

As I walked under the light of a full moon, I wondered why I was having these feelings. What was going on? As I walked, I tripped over something big and hard. My head hit the ground hard above my right eye, pain surging through my head. As I pushed myself off the ground, I saw that it was a rock, rounding to the top like the shell of a turtle, only much bigger.

"Hmm…" My head had hit the ground hard. I felt the spot on my forehead that had hit the ground. I drew away with crimson blood. And as I looked at my hand, I saw the light on it grow dim, fast.

I looked up to see clouds. They had blocked out the star-covered night sky and the moon, and drizzles of rain came down from the clouds, wetting my hair and shirt. Silent lightning flashed through the clouds. Then it started.

The lightning became blue, bright blue, flashing around, highlighting the clouds as violet. The lightening danced through the sky. A single bolt lanced toward the ground. Then another shot down, wrapping around the first. This scared me damn near pissless. Then another joined the unnatural bond, then another. And it was going to crash down in front of me. I needed to get the hell outta there.

As I backed up one, two steps, I noticed yet another odd thing about this bolt of light. Something was riding at the tip of it. Something with a silver luster, shining with a mix of blue energy. And that's when I realized. This was Navitas. This was my destiny.

The blade struck the rock, sending pieces of the mammoth stone flying. I stood in their gale, unflinching. The energy came into the sword, and finished the blade, all shining and silver. It had a black leather handle, two feet in length. A chain of about two feet came of the handle's hilt, and at the end of the chain, a brilliant blue orb with three jagged spikes sticking out of it. There was a rather large hand guard between the blade and handle, spanning at least a foot on each side, curving into a scythe like blade on each side. It had a jewel embedded in the hand guard, and a shaft that ran half way up the flat of the blade, ending in a blue jewel.

"What the fuck is going on?" I questioned as I walked toward the strange sword. I reached my hand out toward the sword, and then hesitated. What was I thinking? I had read about this kind of stuff in fantasies, and even written about things like this on occasion. But this was out of my league. I wrote fantasies. I didn't live them.

I reached out again, wanting badly to touch the handle of the sword, wanting to feel it in my grip. And as my hand came within an inch of the things handle, blue energy shot out of the handle, dancing on my hand. Energy of my own danced out of my hand, bonding with that energy. I pulled away quickly.

"What the hell!" I hollered. The energy had come from me, as well. What was going on? I had no idea. But I swallowed up my courage, knowing there was only one way to find out.

Little did I know, as I stepped out, reaching for the sword, that I was about to find out that I was part of a much bigger fantasy then I had ever imagined.

The energy had bonded almost instantly as I wrapped my hand around the black leather. The energy from the sword ran through my body, the energy from my body running into the sword. My vision went blank, and soon, I knew nothing at all.

Duo…

What the hell!
Welcome, Duo Arigin…
What the hell! That's not my name!
You might be surprised…
Who the fuck are you! Show yourself!
Navitas will make everything clear to you in time…
What am I supposed to do with Navitas?!
You are the Destiny Star now… you will know in time…
What?! I don't understand!
You will, Duo…You will…

As the blue energy left me, I knew what was coming. I first looked down at my self. I was still clutching Navitas, but my clothes were different. I was wearing white khaki pants, and a white sleeveless muscle shirt. I had a thick black leather belt around my waist. I was wearing a black leather jacket, with white sleeves. There were shoulder pads sewn into the shoulders, a dingy white, with three hole in each of the. My hair seemed longer, and spikier. But there was one other change.

I was no longer something human, something normal. I was no longer Mike. I was Duo Arigin. The Destiny star.

I looked up in time to see my house, right before the gunfire started. I heard the screams of my dying mother and sister. My father, as he realized his worst fear had come to reality, that Navitas was gone from him. My brother had been away from the house that night, but no doubt they would find him.

They set the house to burn, but I couldn't shed a tear. I was Duo Arigin now, some strange mix of a man, a sword and an alien. I could feel no pain from this loss.

They began to search for me. There were three on foot, and a helicopter in the air. The helicopter spotted me, and shone its spotlight down on me.

The men on foot quickly found me.

"Son," one of them hollered. "We need you to come with us."

"No," I said defiantly. The wind blew my hair in front of my eyes. "Not a chance in hell. I know the truth. I know who I am."

"What did he just say?" One said to the another.

"Oh, shit man," the man replied. "I think he actually found those powers of his!"

"It doesn't matter!" Their leader hollered, pulling his pistol from its holster. "A bodies better then a freak on the loose! Shoot him, damnit! Shoot him! "

They all pulled guns, and began to fire.

"ARGH!!!!!" I screamed. Navitas appeared in a blaze of blue energy in my right hand. I held my left straight out, blue energy shooting from it like a shield. The bullets flying toward me slowed. The men had all unloaded their fifteen round clips, and were now reloading. They stopped reloading as they saw what was happening. 45 bullets, all spinning in mid air, but not moving forward. All of them stopped in front of me, at my power.

"You're mine!" I hollered, as I dispersed the energy. The bullets went flying in all direction. One cut through one of the men's head right above his left eye. He fell over, dead before he hit the ground. In the seconds it took the other two to look from me to their fallen comrade, I had transported myself behind them, separating my atoms, reassembling in front of them, slicing them both down at the waist. Their guts and innards spilled in a gory mess.

I looked up at the helicopter. It was turning to run, its light leaving me. But it wouldn't help them. With my remaining power, I transmitted myself into the helicopters cockpit.

"You can't run from death. It will always catch you, in the end," I said to them, and they turned to see their death. My left fist went through the pilot's face with the help of some energy dispersion, busting out the other side of his head. Blood and gray matter splattered everywhere. I brought my sword through the copilot's chair, and straight through his stomach. I pulled the sword out, and the man fell the control panel, guts and blood spilling everywhere. The helicopter was spinning to the ground now. I slammed Navitas into the controls. As the cockpit caught fire, I placed my index and middle fingers to my forehead, and transported myself from the cockpit, as it blew up in midair.

I appeared back on the ground, and watch the burning helicopter fall to the remains of my burning home. But before the explosion rocked the neighbor hood, I was swept up in Navitas' energy, and transported to a place far from home.

I was standing in an open field, the clouds no longer present, the moon bright over head. I turned around to see a bright city on the horizon. I was far from home.

I turned back around to a dark silhouette running toward me. He saw me, and stopped in his tracks. The wind blew through my hair as I stared the distance toward him.

Neo.

So I began to run the distance toward my only remaining friend.
