Chicago

The Second City/The Windy City

Chicago has long been a hotbed of Camarilla activity. The infamous Prince Lodin ruled over the city with an iron hand for just over a hundred years. Betrayed by his own progeny, he was killed a couple of years ago. A team of Archons sniffed out the killer and the once powerful Ventrue clan is now reduced to shades of its former self.

Chicago is the only city in the country with a Nosferatu Prince. James Vacker became Prince mostly to oppose the Ventrue. Neither Tremere nor Toreador expressed an interest in the position, and once the Ventrue was proven to have murdered Lodin, there was really no contest. Vacker has only been Prince a short time, but generally has received good PR (but what would one expect from a Nosferatu media mogul?.

Due to Lodin’s death as well as a number of other factors, Chicago has gone from being the second largest city in the country to the third, and one of the few whose population is actually dropping. City leaders have been passing tax laws and other immigration friendly policies, trying to recoup losses.

The Anarchs in the city are very divided – Ramirez and Dawn in one camp, McLean and Mason in another. These two factions aren’t at war, per se, but they are not friendly. Tyler is, without a doubt, the Brujah clan elder, but rarely takes interest in Anarch activities. If she shows up in Sleepy Hollow, that would be out of character.

Key Kindred:

  • Carlos Ramirez

This powerful Brujah showed up in the Windy City from out west seven years ago and quickly took over a large chunk of the criminal influence in town. Gets angry often, but rarely blows his top. When he does, however, stand far, far away.

  • Dawn

One of the few openly Nosferatu vampires in Chicago who aren’t in Vacker’s court. Perhaps for this reason, she is more forthcoming with information than most of the rest. For this reason (and maybe others), the rest of the city’s sewer rats are rumored to not be terribly fond of her.

  • James Vacker

The new prince of Chicago. This Nosferatu came out of virtually nowhere last September and took the throne, and has enough handles on everyone who might dispute his rule that no one does. Controls a large portion of the city's media.

  • Lodin

The legendary (and now deceased) former Prince of Chicago was arugably the most respected and famous Prince in the country for most of his reign. Loved by the Camarilla, hated by Anarchs, feared by pretty much everyone, he was often presumed to be Democritus’ successor as Justicar if he wanted the role. However, all is different without him in power.

  • McLean

Mason’s right hand man. Clever, tough, and, apparently, without personal ambition. The most restrained Brujah in Chicago, and the most subtle. That’s a weird adjective to use for a Brujah, but there you go.

  • Ritz

Ritz is a Brujah who lives in Milwaukee and is looking to get in on the Chicago street scene -- apparently, he's getting a little bit restless in the little city to the north.

  • Shepherd

A local Follower of Set who is always willing to “help out”.

  • Tyler

A very intellectual Brujah, much more interested in revolution of people’s thinking than the actual bloodbath that goes with it. She, Ramirez and Victor Mason pretty much make up the Brujah power block of Chicago between them.

  • Victor Mason

Tyler's very strong right arm. When Ramirez came to Chicago he took over a big chunk of Mason’s interests and made Mason a glorified assistant manager. He’s big, burly, and short tempered. The rivalry between Victor and Ramirez is a just-below-the-surface bubbling tension.
