New York City
The Big Apple/The City That Never Sleeps
New York City’s political and Anarch structure is as muddled as it has ever been. The city’s first Anarch leader, Grendel, is now the Prince of a major borough. The newest Anarch leader, Alexis, has been missing (with most of her followers) for several weeks now, which is especially unusual considering the upcoming status of the current event. Many of the local rumors have her embracing vampire upon vampire, waiting for the Tontine so that she can come in and clean up. She has a number of west coast allies, and contacts out there have reported rumored Alexis sightings, trying to drum up support against Grendel and his minions.
The Princes of New York are in disarray, and the only people who seem to have any ability to pull cohesion together is the Primogen and the Tremere, led by Denver Hammersmith. Of the 150 or so Kindred in New York, only the most powerful and relevant are mentioned here. Others may be mentioned in character packets – they do exist. There is plenty of information on New York City Kindred available, and it will be going up over the next couple of days or weeks.
The number of street influences is very much at flux in New York City, depending on whether you break it down into boroughs or not. The exact number may become available at a later date.
Key Kindred:
Alexis
Alexis' battle with Grendel has become infamous. She originally arrived in the Big Apple, fresh off the west coast with all sorts of grand and glorious visions of Grendel. After Grendel's declaration of Prince, however, that all changed.
Alexis has become Grendel's foremost and most outspoken opponet. It's pretty obvious that she hates his fucking guts and wants him out of power and, most likely, out of life. She has pushed him close to the edge of frenzy several times, but has always stopped just short of breaking that final straw.
Andrei
This young Follower of Set has not followed in the ways of his elders. Mostly, he runs a couple of street gangs and hangs around the younger pseudo-Anarchs, such as Sascha.
Armitage
This Toreador Archon of the Camarilla has taken up semi-permanent residence in New York City, and seems to be in charge of keeping the Camarilla presence visible. She is one of the most powerful Toreador Archons in existence, and her physical prowess is feared by Grendel. While most Toreador are laughed at on the battlefield, Armitage is a widely feared and respected opponet.
Not an outgoing socialite, she tends to watch activities in New York with a wary eye. She trusts very few, and certainly is no longer the puppet of any Prince. Known to not think Imogen's Princehood is a good idea.
Calvin Waters
Waters is a relatively new vampire, one who seems nervous to be around. A Brujah in the Bronx, he tends to just run some of the smaller gangs. Rumored to be related to Cancer.
Cancer
If there is a more detested member of vampiric society, you don't know who it would be. Cancer is widely regarded as a waste of blood, vitae and the rest of it all. He runs several street gangs and other minor influences in the Bronx. He's lived long enough, however, that it would take a concerted effort on the part of someone fairly big to take him out.
Castle
Alexis' chief bodyguard, he is the most feared Brujah in New York. Although not as physically powerful as Grendel, he is also not as visible. His mere presence can change the entire nature of an encounter. He came back from Los Angeles with Alexis, and is known to have connections there. His hatred of the Sabbat is well known.
Chamberlain
This guy is another one of Grendel's virtual army of ghouls. He is the chief referee for the Tontine and a key part of the Grendel's crack security team.
Chelsea Gray
Chelsea Gray is the new head of the Manhattan Chantry of the Tremere. She replaces Derek Fleming as both Regent and Primogen sitter. Tries to take a fairly inactive role in city politics. Well regarded.
Chystas Chembryl
The most prominent Caitiff in New York, he runs the infamous London Bridge night club.
Dalton Locke
A powerful Gangrel, new to New York City. One of the few Kindred known to travel in all social circles and seen most frequented amongst the Anarch population. However, he is seen at Prince's balls and events as well. Part of the band Fusion Ball -- will be playing music for most of the first half of the game.
Damien
A young Caitiff, he has taken refuge in the Bronx. He was instrumental in the putting down of a werewolf uprising a couple of years ago.
Deacon
This new Caitiff is the product of a recent religious uprising in New York. His non-denominational church is small but growing, and his charisma and charm are legendary, even for Kindred standards.
Denver Hammersmith
Denver Hammersmith is the most powerful Tremere in New York City. He holds the rank of Lord and is widely feared by Anarch everywhere. He is the Prince of Queens and Long Island and Anarchs dare not tread in those areas. His Chantry, located somewhere in the Hamptons, is a whole cul-de-sac full of multi-million dollar mansions that have been converted.
Grendel
The host of this little shindig, the former Anarch leader of New York, which is his first permanent home in many years. He has now declared himself the Prince of the Bronx. Although his rules are far less stringent than other Princes, some point that each Prince has his own set of rules. Many Anarchs applaud the efforts that he has gone to in finding a new place for the downtrodden Kindred to live.
Any number of other Kindred also feel his has sold out, having sold out like so many others have before him, sold out to the Camarilla and their power. The fact that the Camarilla really doesn't like Grendel much doesn't seem to mean much to the naysayers. Merely mentioning his name causes fights in some Anarch circles.
Henderson
A new Brujah to town, he is one of Grendel's people and is the head of security this evening. Not much is known of this one, but he is thought to be out of LA. Whether LA actually claims him or not is another story.
Jaime
A quiet Anarch, he tends to work with Xenon and Young.
Jeremiah Hartwood
This Malkavian spent a long time working for former Prince and Justicar Benedict. Indeed, as one of the Justicar's youngest progeny, Jeremiah Hartwood gains a lot of respect. His position as Malkavian elder provides him for a lot of flexibility, however. He spends time both as elder and Anarch, devoting most of his time to whatever seems more fun. Oddly enough, both groups seem to accept him.
His influences and interests are not nearly so respected, however. He controls much of the city's prostitution and adult entertainment. A very wealthy man, some refer to him as the Uberpimp. He seems to like that, actually. Many wonder if the constant fucking with Grendel's boat isn't some deep, dark plan of Hartwood's. If it is, it is well executed, because there's never been any evidence pointing to him. Part of the band Fusion Ball -- will be playing music for most of the first half of the game.
Regan O'Keefe
This Irish Brujah runs the city's INS and prison system. He also controls the IRA and several other violence-oriented organizations.
Sascha
"Xaviar's Daughter." This Gangrel is surrounded by mystery. She arrived in town last year, accompanied by the man who would be revealed as Xaviar. She has remained in town, usually in the company of Dalton Locke, although she frequents the Anarch circles as well.
Scarborough
A local Ravnos, this one has fingers in a wide variety of pies. Well known for his computer skills.
Tannen
This new Brujah has quickly gotten in Grendel's good graces. He is part of the security staff tonight, probably mostly due to his huge physique.
Trask
This Ventrue is new to town, but has made friends in all the right circles. Of course, unless you're an Anarch, in which case it's all the wrong circles. Rolling in the dough.
Trevor Foster
A local Brujah who has made quick work of running many of the gangs in NYC. Notable for his physical prowess and quick temper.
Tyson Law
This young Brujah is a progeny of Castle's and has been used to help manage the Marble Hill Shipyards. Not very well, mind you. Part of the band Fusion Ball -- will be playing music for most of the first half of the game.
Vargas
This guy is one of Grendel's ghouls. He is the promoter of the event, and quite an asshole when he feels like it. Not a very nice guy, all in all. 'ats ok, he's Grendel's bitch. He don'
havta be a nice guy.
Veronique
This former adult film star turned Toreador turned Prince turned Primogen member/manipulator is a firmly established elder in New York. One of the most hated (and lusted after) by the local Anarch population, she is a powerful, influential elder whose Presence is overpowering within her immediate vicinity and felt throughout the rest of the city.
West
One of Grendel's favorite ghouls, West is one of New York's premiere oddsmakers and will be running the books for the Tontine tonight.
Xenon
Another Anarch, mostly found in Alexis' company, he has been in New York for a considerable amount of time.
Young
One of New York's most notorious Anarchs, he is Grendel's progeny and constantly torn between kissing Grendel's ass and telling him off. Until he decides one way or another, neither social circle is likely to give him full credit.
Typhon
This legendary Nosferatu makes New York City his/her/its home. Or does it? Certainly, it has some interest and influence on what is going on at this Rave. Perhaps the Colonel knows...
