Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow (formerly North Tarrytown, it was officially renamed in 1996) is a sleepy little tourist community that lies on the Hudson River. It is a small town of about 6,000 people 60 miles north of New York City. Not quite urban yet not quite rural, the town boasts patches of isolated fields as well as more concentrated hommlets of homes and shops. Also boasting the residences of John Rockefeller and Jay Gould, Sleepy Hollow was about as expensive a place to live as any in the nineteenth century. For more information on Sleepy Hollow proper, here is the website for the Sleepy Hollow Chamber of Commerce.

While nowhere near large enough to support its own vampiric population, Sleepy Hollow IS the home to a wide variety of legends, stories and rumors, most of which surround the Headless Horseman and the writer of the infamous “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, Washington Irving. Key Kindred/Spirits/Etc.:

  • Prince of Sleepy Hollow

His title being the only "name" he goes by, this Malkavian is the only permanent resident of Sleepy Hollow. While he has been largely undisturbed and inactive for as long as anyone can remember, he is a kooky fellow who likes to play a variety of games. He was only too happy to allow Grendel to host the Tontine here. The event is taking place in his Domain, and since there is no other Kindred here, who is to argue with him? He is the “Prince”, his word is law. He is aware of the nature of this event, however, and is probably only likely to have a problem with what you are doing if its not in the spirit of the event.

  • Ghost of Washington Irving

The ghost of the writer of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” supposedly wanders the streets of Sleepy Hollow, just because he can. The Prince of Sleepy Hollow has been known to have conversations with him from time to time. Generally presumed to be just the other half of the Prince’s schizoprenic imagination. The Giovanni have been known to express an occasional interest in him, but nothing in depth.

  • The Headless Horseman

While there have been numerous unconfirmed “sightings” of this mythical creature reported from time to time, nobody really gives much faith in it. Of course, this is the World of Darkness and creatures like this wouldn’t have been dreamt up without some basis in reality.
