>> INTERVIEW!!: TNM BASEMENT INTERVIEW WITH ATA DIZDAROGLU (Apr '99)
{Taken from Issue #63}
In this interview: bAz is Me
Ata is Ata Dizdaroglu
bAz: First of all we'll talk about wrestling...How did you actually
first find out about professional wrestling, and who were your
favourite wrestlers?
Ata: Let's see, back in the 80's Hulk Hogan was really popular, and
the mainstream always seemed to talk about him so I wanted to find
out what was the deal with wrestling. Of course I only watched it
sporadically. I didn't become a serious wrestling fan until 1993 when
the whole McMahon steroid scandal was taking place. You could say
while many were tuning out, I was tuning in, and I have enjoyed it
ever since. My favorite wrestlers then were Hulk Hogan, the Ultimate
Warrior, basically the main-event faces. Now my favorites are Steve
Austin, The Rock, and ManKind from the WWF. Chris Jericho Hulk Hogan
(for no reason why) in WCW, and Sabu, Taz, and Rob Van Dam from ECW.
Can't really tell you about Japanese wrestling because I haven't
seen it.
bAz: What in your opinion is the best federation in the world?
Ata: My favorite fed has to be ECW, they have the best workers out
there. The fed I watch with a passion though has to be WWF. I always
get into conversations about it with my friends.
bAz: Now onto TNM matters...How did you first find out about TNM?
Ata: Gee, that's gonna be tough to remember. I believe I stumbled on
to a search engine and searched for wrestling. I saw this description
about a simulator and so I clicked. I was very impressed with the
description, but I didn't want to download it just yet. Then one day,
I thought what the hell, and downloaded the sim, version 6.2. I
haven't made the wrong decision, and now I'm happy about that.
bAz: What version did you download?
Ata: 6.2
bAz: What version did you first register?
Ata: 6.2 plus
bAz: What made TNM different from any wrestling simulators that you'd
seen?
Ata: I didn't really try out any other simulators. TNM was the first
one I ever downloaded. I was so impressed with it, I thought what was
the point of trying anything else when you've got the best right here.
bAz: What do you hope to see in TNM7 Gold?
Ata: I've heard it will have a real life circuit mode, so anyone who
would really like to run a realistic federation should have great loads
of fun with that. I hope there are more options to TNM when Gold is
released.
bAz: What do you think of Zeus 3?
Ata: Can't tell you, I personally haven't tried it. But I believe it
has potential.
bAz: What do you think of the FCA Cubed series of plugins?
Ata: I think its great that people can now make up their own types of
matches without learning a program language to make a match plug-in or
forcing anyone who does to make one. Of course, the versions after
2.0 couldn't work on my computer though and I personally don't use
them.
bAz: What do you think of the Interview Integrator?
Ata: First impression was that it was great, but now I think it still
needs some work done to it. Maybe book an injury to an interviewer
or something.
bAz: What made you want to create your fantasy Wired Wrestling
Association?
Ata: Well, before I downloaded TNM, my friends and I wanted to do a TV
show on our local public access station. We gave ourselves nicknames
such as Ata The Giant (me), Iceman Dan, Tank, etc. After I
downloaded TNM, a thought ran through my head that maybe I can create
these guys on TNM, and so I did. The current WWA is actually a second
incarnation of it. The first started back in 1996 when I first
downloaded TNM and I had created many wrestlers and used some exports
of wrestlers. I started the second version after I shut down the
e-fed I ran, the World League Of Wrestling, in January of last year.
I used the same wrestlers I had for the first WWA, added some of the
World League Of Wrestling wrestlers, and created some more wrestlers
that weren't in both leagues. The reason to bring it back was what's
the reason to use TNM anymore with no e-fed. And so I created a new
roster with some of the old WWA, some of the WLW, and some new
wrestlers. Its always fun to run it, but sometimes I'm pressed for
time and I have to whip up a card real quickly.
bAz: Will your site ever carry exports of the wrestlers you use
if your fed?
Ata: I put up an export file of all the wrestlers in the Wired
Wrestling Association on my web site (http://wwa.ontheweb.nu). I
originally wanted to do a news page, but I figured that would be too
time consuming, so I decided others might want to use my wrestlers
and there you go.
bAz: What would you like to see as the next TNM7 match plugin?
Ata: To tell you the truth, I would like to see that Doomsday cage, on
top of a cage, on top of a cage match from WCW UnCensored a few years
back. Even though the WCW match sucked, I thought it was a good
concept.
bAz: Finally we come to the TNM Sites section..What TNM sites do you
frequent most often?
Ata: I always go to the TNM official site. I also make stops at the
TNM Basement and occasionally at the BoyCott and TNMania(sp.). The
last two never seem to be updated these days.
bAz: What do you think of the sites that post exports of wrestlers who
haven't even wrestled? e.g. Midian, "Titan" a.k.a Paul Wight
Ata: I think when they create a wrestler based on hearsay(in the case
of Paul Wight) or after one match(Mideon) and when they see the real
wrestler do his moves completely opposite of what they have created,
it makes them look stupid and really downgrades his/her credibility.
bAz: What do you think of the TNM Basement site and newsletter?
Ata: The newsletter is always great, look forward to it every time I
see it in the mailbox. The site is great, one of the very few that
always updates whenever something new is out.
bAz: And the last question for today Ata...What do you hope to see in
the future for TNM and Ata Dizdaroglu?
Ata: I hope TNM continues it standard of excellence and maybe gain
some new followers along the way. As for myself, I will continue to
run the WWA until whatever reason comes about and hopefully keep up a
good web site. Oh and if I can make one quick plug if you will, I
write a column for a web site that I think you all should check out.
The URL for the site is http://itscwrestling.com and look for a column
by the name of "View From Above" by Ata The Giant (yours truly). I
also hope to continue writing great columns as well.
bAz: Thanks very much Ata for taking the time to answer these
questions. See ya later and hope to hear from you soon.
Ata: Sure no problem.
