In this interview: bAz - stands for me
Dude - stands for Dude (obviously!!)
bAz: First of all we'll talk about wrestling...How did you actually
first find out about professional wrestling, and who were your
favourite wrestlers?
Dude: I don't remember the exact date that I first got into wrestling,
but I do remember watching what I think was a preview for Summerslam
'90. The first match that I ever saw was Mr. Perfect beating the crap
out of the former NWA champ Ronnie Garvin. My favorite wrestlers back
then were the Ultimate Warrior, Hogan, L.O.D., Demolition, the Texas
Tornado, and the Hart Foundation. Today my favorites are Bret Hart,
Mick Foley, Chris Jericho, Ken Shamrock, and Chris Benoit.
bAz: What in your opinion is the best federation in the world?
Dude: The WWF is by far the best. What WCW does with all of the
talent they have is just pathetic.
bAz: Now onto TNM matters...How did you first find out about TNM?
Dude: I did a search for wrestling games. I came up with a site
called PC Wrestling Games. It had nothing on in except for 4 or
5 links and one of them was to tnm.simplenet.com.
bAz: What version did you download?
Dude: 6.2
bAz: What version did you first register?
Dude: 6.2+
bAz: What made TNM different from any wrestling simulators that
you'd seen?
Dude: I had no idea what a wrestling simulator was before I found out
about TNM.
bAz: What do you hope to see in TNM7 Gold?
Dude: I would like to see TNM7 Gold, period. I know that Oliver said
that he was putting TNM 7 "on ice" but if he would make Gold I would
probably like to see star ratings for cards, TV ratings, a crowd chant
field on the wrestler creation screen, less strict referees, and
anything you can think of that has to do with the business side of pro
wrestling.
bAz: What do you think of Zeus 3?
Dude: I think the program itself is great. The program is just as
good as TNM in some aspects and even better in others. The only
problem that I see with Zeus is the wrestlers and moves that come
with the program. Quite frankly, they suck. There are tons of
misspelled words and inaccurate statistics. Some wrestlers have
less than 10 moves and I'm not about to go and recreate every single
wrestler I use when I already have them set the way I like them in
TNM 7.
bAz: What do you think of the FCA Cubed series of plugins?
Dude: I never use them because I never actually watch the matches.
For Dude's WWF Circuit and Dude's WCW Circuit all I do is wait until
the end of the card and I edit the results with Copp's TNM 7 Circuit
Editor plugin. This way I can fix matches by adding comments,
interferences, and other stuff that TNM can provide by itself. Also,
my circuits are at a point in the early ninties where they didn't
really have that many gimmick matches other than the basic cage match.
After a while I will probably start using the FCA Cubed plugin but it
just doesn't seem to fit my needs right now.
bAz: What do you think of the Interview Integrator?
Dude: I think that it could have been a lot better. It needed to
have more detail. Instead of just having the one "Interview:" field
in could have that and then an "Interviewer:" and "Interviewee:" plus
it you should have been able to book injuries.
bAz: What made you want to create the TheFront?
Dude: I have no idea. I sort of was out with my friends 1 night and
after about three hours of intoxicating ourselves I sat in front of
my computer and created the first version of TheFront.
bAz: How long did it take you to create the site?
Dude: The current version took about 2 weeks. The first version was
done it about 15 minutes.
bAz: What would you like to see as the next TNM7 match plugin?
Dude: I don't think that there is any kind of match that can't be made
with FCA Cubed plugins. What we need is more plugins that deal with
the parts of TNM that have nothing to do with the actual matches.
What I could really use a plugin that lists the Work Rate, Push,
Stamina, and Charisma of every wrestler and lets you edit them. That
way you can compare stats and more accurate exports could be made.
bAz: Finally we come to the TNM Sites section..What TNM sites do you
frequent most often?
Dude: The TNM Basement, Brian's WWF Circuit, and Ike's Global Wrestling
Federation.
bAz: What do you think of the sites that post exports of wrestlers
who haven't even wrestled? e.g. Midian, "Titan" a.k.a Paul Wight
Dude: I was actually the one who first offered the Midian export before
he had wrestled any matches in his new gimmick and I must say that the
guy didn't have a fucking brain transplant, he just got his gimmick
changed. It's not like he's going to use a complete different set of
moves, grow six inches taller, and gain 300 pounds. He stayed
basically the same with the only changes being his name and his
finisher. It's not like the database that comes with TNM 7 is any
better. Some examples: The Rock hasn't gone by "Rocky Maivia" in close
to a year now and the same for Triple H being called "Hunter Hearst
Helmsley". Gillberg has 25 moves when the fact of the matter is the
only moves that he has done are the a punch(maybe) and the Spear(which
he missed). Also, how did they figure out the work rates? The true
way to determine a wrestler's work rate is to divide the total of moves
he has by the number of restholds he uses. I started using that
formula and have come to realize that it makes running some of my
circuits a lot more fun. Hulk Hogan doesn't have all -***** matches
because in reality his work rate isn't as low as people make it out
to be. I could on about this forever.
bAz: What do you think of the TNM Basement site and newsletter?
Dude: Both great. I think that the newsletter is probably the main
reason that TNM has stayed popular in the last few months even though
tnm7.com and Jeff's TNMania haven't been updated.
bAz: And the last question for today Dude...What do you hope to see in
the future for TNM and Dude?
Dude: I hope to expand TheFront. I'll continue to add new features.
Right now I'm working on some guitar tabs to somes wrestler's theme
songs, wrestlers, tag teams, and stables database that are similar to
the moves database at tnm7.com. Also I want to start designing TNM
sites for other people who want it for free(e-mail me for more info).
As far as TNM goes, I see Oliver eventually putting out TNM 7 Gold
even though he said he was done with TNM.
