World War 3 LIVE on PPV!

The show opened up with Vince McMahon in the ring. He welcomed 
everyone to the AWF's first PPV World War 3. The AWF had used its 
first two weeks to hype up the show with special 2-hour programs. Now 
Showtime is going to be a one-hour program. He promises that no one 
will be disappointed with their first PPV. First there will be a 
handicap match with Paul Wight and DX. That will be followed by two 
battle royals to find out who will go at it for the World Title in 
the main event. Then RVD and Sabu will face the Steiners with the Tag 
Titles on the line. Then of course is the Main Event for the World 
Title. He invites everyone to tune in to this night where wrestling
history will be made!

Handicap-Match:
Paul Wight defeated D-Generation X (Chyna and Hunter Hearst Helmsley) 
when Wight defeated Chyna by disqualification in 0:07:19.
Rating: -1/2*

An equal matchup for sure here. A man and a half against a man and a 
half. The two sides were equal in weight, and they both hated each 
other. HHH and Chyna dominated the Big Show early on, but they 
couldn't keep Wight down. After a Low Blow from Chyna, HHH was 
about to Pedigree Wight. Instead, Show backdropped HHH right into 
Chyna- who was holding a chair! Then Wight grabbed Chyna and was 
about to hit the Showstopper when HHH picked up the chair. Before 
Wight slammed Chyna down, HHH hit Wight with a chair causing a DQ! 
Then the rest of DX ran out and everyone was beating on the Big Show. 
Scott put him in the Steiner Recliner, and eventually security got 
everyone off of Wight.

Hayabusa won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x S. Steiner threw out Akiyama after a side suplex in 0:11:52
x S. Steiner threw out Bart Gunn in 0:12:14
x Helmsley threw out S. Steiner in 0:19:54
x Venis defeated Billy Gunn after a fisherman suplex in 0:23:54
x Venis threw out Kanemoto in 0:24:32
x Muto threw out Venis in 0:24:37
x Muto threw out Shinzaki in 0:24:59
x Hayabusa defeated Helmsley after the Firebird Splash in 0:26:28
x Hayabusa threw out Muto in 0:27:32

A very interesting Battle Royal here. Scott Steiner threw out the 
first two  competitors just 22 seconds apart. Then it got interesting. 
Steiner was trying to get rid of Hayabusa, then suddenly HHH ran over 
and knocked out Steiner from behind! Steiner was irate at ringside. He 
couldn't believe his fellow DX member threw him out! He ran back in 
the ring and went after HHH, but security took him to the back. Later, 
HHH, Muto, and Hayabusa were the last three people left. HHH was about 
to Pedigree Hayabusa, but then Steiner ran in the ring with a chair 
and nailed HHH with it! He left the ring and Hayabusa hit the Firebird 
Splash on HHH and eliminated him, leaving Muto and Hayabusa. After 
going at it for about a minute, Hayabusa threw out Muto to get to the
Main Event.

No-Countout-No-DQ-10-Man Battle Royal:

x Sabu threw out Kidman after an Asai leg lariat in 0:03:38
x N. Ogawa threw out Sabu in 0:05:24
x Hijo del Santo threw out R. Steiner in 0:07:11
x Van Dam threw out Kobashi in 0:12:26
x N. Casas threw out N. Ogawa after a flying dropkick in 0:12:56
x Van Dam threw out Hijo del Santo after a throw-off in 0:18:21
x Van Dam threw out Godfather in 0:19:43
x N. Casas threw out Wight in 0:24:04
x Van Dam threw out N. Casas after a back suplex in 0:29:40
Rating: ** 1/4

Not much interesting in this one. RVD won to advance to the Main 
Event.

Match for the vacant AWF Tag Team Titles:
Sabu and Rob Van Dam defeated The Steiner Brothers when Van Dam 
defeated S. Steiner by disqualification in 0:17:26.
Rating: * 1/2
(Sabu and Rob Van Dam won the AWF Tag Team Titles.)

A nice Tag match ended with Scott Steiner irate as usual. After a 
nice 17 minutes, Rick Steiner tagged in Scott Steiner. Then Rick 
pretended to hurt his ankle. He fell to the outside while RVD and
Sabu hit the Rolling Thunder. RVD covered Scott and the ref made the 
count. Before the ref hit three, HHH pulled the ref out of the ring! 
The ref called for a DQ and RVD and Sabu won the belts. Then a fight 
resulted afterward. Scott went after HHH, telling him he could 
have kicked out. Then he yelled at him for eliminating him in the 
Battle Royal. HHH told him the Battle Royal was strictly business, and 
he didn't want Scott getting pinned. Then all the sudden Rick 
Steiner decked Scott from behind with a chair! Rick but him in the 
Armlock, but then Paul Wight ran out! The crowd went wild as he 
chased away DX! Then he carried out Scott to a huge ovation.

Match for the vacant AWF Title:
Rob Van Dam pinned Hayabusa via pinfall in 0:12:04.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Rob Van Dam won the AWF Title.)

A fabulous match! Prior to the match Vince came out and announced 
anything goes in this one, and anything did! Hayabusa first hit a 
Frankensteiner from the top, then set up a table and set RVD
on it. He went up top and tried a moonsault threw the table, but 
RVD moved at the last second! RVD mustered all his energy to cover 
Hayabusa and win the Title! What a night for Rob Van Dam, who won the 
last 3 matches in the night!
